Initially I was gonna give this place 5 stars based on two late night visits with my girlfriend. The service, food and atmosphere were all perfect. A bit expensive but totally worth it.
However when we went during the day we got an entirely different experience. At first they tried to deny us entrance until they noticed some of our friends speaking greek and tried to save face. We know people from Rhodes who were waiting for us at Kalami and they got really embarrased and kept apologizing on the behalf of the staff. This was not the greek hospitality we had gotten used to during our stay in Rhodes.
I tried ordering a cocktail and had to wait 40 minutes before they eventually gave me a warm, poorly mixed drink that tasted nothing like the drinks me and my girlfriend had bought the previous night. While I waited for my drink the staff was laughing and talking greek while blatantly ignoring me while serving everybody else.
So apparantly they have no problem making money off of tourists during the evening when business is slow, yet they will treat the same tourists poorly during the day when they don't need them cause the locals are there partying.
What a shame. I was definitely planning...
Read moreIt's a pity that the place has such an aggresive policy towards profitability. My experience: Last summer I visited the place with a friend (both semi-locals). We sat down to a free table (there were many and there was no person to get you seated) and we ordered to the waitress that came over, coffees (as most of the people around us). After giving the order, the waitress told us that she may "need the table" later on cause they had a party that day0. We replied "Oh we didn't know, is it reserved (no sign of reservation)?" She answered "No, but I may need it..." We replied back that we don't understand why, and asked clearly whether we can have our coffees there-as most of the people around us had" She said "Yes but...(couldn'y articulate anything that made sense)". After the exchance of few more lines we grabbed our staff and left the bar. This place makes you feel more as a trespasser than a welcomed visitor. We sensed that "we got profiled" and "we didn't fit in their preferences". So, elitism/discrimation aside, the place looks great-that's why it...
Read moreI tried to order sone drink and food fir the kid at the bar, they said to me, that it is imposibble to order food there, only one way, if I order at waiters who walks between the sunbeds. I ask for one of them, can I order, and he said of course he will come back soon. After half an hour nothing, I go to the other employee, I said my problem she told me, that she will send a waiter, but nothing again. Other half an hour later I went back to the bar, I told my problem again, and after some discuss I could order, but I get only the drinks, meanwhile the baby has sleep without any food. When the baby woke up, we decided to leave, the same waiter appeared and told me I have to pay the 2 beers, I told the situation again, and he still want the money, without any normal service. I asked for the manager, but he is the same, he told me I don't have to pay for the food, but I have to pay for the beer without any discount. So I drop the money to the ground. This place is horrible if you do not want...
