Kritamos Beach Apartments — Hotel in Municipality of Sfakia

Stayed: 2 weeks in June-July 2023.|For a relaxing holiday, Kritamos Beach Apartments is without question the BEST place to stay in Frangokastello, maybe the best in Crete or even the best in Greece!|We have been travelling to Greece for 30+ years. Different places have one or two things we like: peace and quiet, beautiful empty beaches, comfortable beds, great views, lovely hosts, beautiful scenery, a great taverna nearby, everything in walking distance. Kritamos has ALL of these! If you are looking for great accommodation in a beautiful, quiet place, you have found it.|What we liked:|- large, comfortable, very clean apartment with a/c and comfortable bed. The kitchen has everything you need.|- the VIEW, ohmygod the view! The balcony looks directly out to sea; from the side you get stunning views of the mountains (ask for a corner apartment if available)|- lovely cleaning staff, attentive and efficient. Thank you Maria!|- lovely owner: Valantis is kind, attentive and generous. He made sure that we had everything we needed, including a very good memory foam mattress. Thank you for showing us your olive farm and the old abandoned village your family came from. What a memorable trip. And your olive oil is delicious! xxx|- easy access to the Imbros gorge for a wonderful gorge walk easy enough for anyone|- the gorgeous Vatamos sandy beach, 2 minutes' walk away. With trees for shade. Perfect for swimming, lounging and snorkelling|- Vatamos Taverna, just 3 minutes' walk away. The best food in Frangokastello.|- the peace and quiet. It's perfect for young families and couples. No noise, no noisy bars, no discos. Just the sea and the crickets. (And the apartments are very well insulated - you don't hear your neighbours at all.)|What we didn't like: Nothing. Everything...

I can't say enough positive things about Kritamos. I've stayed twice and each of the apartments was lovely.Large, bright clean and cool and equipped with everything you could possibly need. Your balcony is right on to the water's edge and the views of the sea and mountains are spectacular. Evening entertainment is a few goats who walk past the garden. It is right beside the best restaurant in Frangokastello (Vatalos), and there is a beach beside the apartments - but better beaches in the wider area. The location is also good for walking some of the local gorges - Imbros and Kallikratis.||||The landlord Valantis gave us a welcome bottle of wine and Sfakian biscuits, and popped in a few days later with fresh pastries. He's regularly onsite and maintains it in perfect condition. He's also incredibly nice.Our trip was delayed as my partner ended up in hospital. He held the room for us, and (when he saw that it was a genuine, serious, illness) he didn't charge for the days we missed. So nice and refused to take the money. I hadn't the heart to tell him I was losing my job in case he wanted to give us the room for free! Thankfully my work is sorted and I want to make sure that the apartments get the business...

Our stay in the Kritamos was completely superb, Valantis is one of the nicest hosts we've ever had, all the communications and his attitude were so hospitable and sincere, he's always in touch to assist with any questions. Maria, who was helping with the cleaning, was also really nice and did a lot to help.||Our apartment was very spacious and clean, simply and nicely decorated, had all the utils you need for cooking and living and an absolutely stunning sea view (it's the same from all the apartments).||The property is perfectly located, there're sandy and rocky beaches on both sides in two minutes walking and several more beaches are available by bike (you can take them in the property freely) or car. The nearby supermarket and the Vatalos tavern are also very close and provide all the food and other essentials. ||We got only the most positive impressions after our stay at Kritamos Beach Apartments and we will definitely return there if we decide to visit...
