We arrived on August 17th, everything was ok: nice staff, clean pool, room ok for the money paid. Then ... on August 25, the nightmare began. We left the hotel in the morning by car to another nearby beach. Upon returning, around 4 pm, a Win10 tablet and a GoPro camera, in a laptop bag, were missing from the room. All our luggage’s were searched ... probably in search of money. That was not the case, the money was on us. I announced the receptionist, she immediately called the police. The police made their appearance shortly. After an initial finding of the event: the door with functional but forced lock, they invited me to the Police station in Agios Nikolaus to file a statement. I went to the Police station, where I gave a statement about what happened. The police officer was kind and receptive. To my question if I am able to ask for hotel compensations for the stolen goods he replied affirmative. The next day he sent a team for additional investigations, following this the Police report was issued in 5 days. Well ... during this time the receptionist repeated to me several times that I am the first victim of a theft since the hotel opened 18 years ago. The day after, based on the first conclusions of the police, I asked to be compensated by the hotel, considering their fault in ensuring a minimum security: there are no surveillance cameras, the doors cannot be locked from the outside or inside with the key but only by closing with a fixed handle, there is no guard, it is practically worse than camping. The response from the receptionist was that they would contact the hotel lawyer and then they would contact me. I mention that we only pay an advance for 2 days, following the check out to pay the remaining 12 days. 48 hours passed without an answer. Following several requests the lock of my door was changed (2 days after the incident!). My children were scared so I had to put a chair at the door to calm them as the door could not be locked from the inside. Following the compensation discussions the receptionist asked for the police report. I was asked by the receptionist if I am sure that I had in my room the objects claimed as stolen. In the meantime, I found out that I am not the first victim ... but the third in the last month, see Irena's post from August, 1st (https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g668422-d1134079-r694835508-Hotel_Makednos-Nikiti_Sithonia_Halkidiki_Region_Central_Macedonia.html). I confronted the receptionist with the message, the answer was that I can’t prove that I had those objects in the room. On Thursday evening I sent my compensation claim to them in writing, with the value of the damage according to the wear of the equipment (2 years). Fifth day, Friday evening I asked the receptionist again, this being the last night in the hotel. Again I was asked by the receptionist about the police report. This time I had it, I showed it, the receptionist wanted to make it a photo copy but I did not agree. I was told that within an hour I would be contacted by the Manager and / or a lawyer, further I was verbally specified that I would not be compensated. Friday evening ended with the same set of lies that I had become accustomed to ... no manager or lawyer contacted me, my interface was only a receptionist, despite my requests to talk to someone from the hotel management. On Saturday morning I paid the full amount, I did not benefit from any reduction or excuses from the reception, more than that, since Thursday I did not benefit from cleaning the room and the hotel staff behaved hostile. 48 hours after I left the hotel I received an answer in an e-mail in which, among other things, I was told to stop with the requests for compensation to them, to address the policy (sic) , as for them the crime do not exist, otherwise they will report me to the police. I do not recommend this hotel, if you want to stay there, do not leave money or electronics in the room. If you are a victim, file a statement at the police station. ||I wish you a safe and pleasant vacation. Take care of...

CONs: If you care about cleanliness -- STAY AWAY.
We stayed for 7 nights.
They never showed up to change our sheets or clean our room. On the 4th day, I called and complained. They said that due to Covid restrictions, they do not clean frequently (which is hilarious). They asked me if I wanted them to send the cleaning staff now and I said NO DO NOT SEND ANYONE NOW because we're trying to put our baby asleep at this time, and we agreed to have someone clean our room and change our sheets the next morning. And I hang up the phone. One hour later -- they burst into our room, while we were sleeping, saw us in bed and left without saying a word. Then, they left towels, toiletries and plastic bags on our baby's cart and went away. And they never showed up again. Not the next morning as we agreed, not the next day either. So we cleaned our room ourselves. For 7 nights. And emptied our trash ourselves and we cleaned our toilet ourselves. For 110 euros per night.
So, if you're interested in a new, self-service cleaning experience, you can choose this hotel.
In disgust, I asked to talk to the hotel manager and he apologized, told me I'm right but didn't do anything else other than apologizing. OTHER THAN THAT: The beach looks nice but the sand is a dumpster. There are TRILLIONS of cigarette buds buried in the sand EVERYWHERE. So, the hotel, that makes profit by taking advantage of this beach, should take measures to keep it clean. Obviously the tenants and visitors of this beach are not an example of the smartest being on earth if you judge by their habit to bury their cigarette buds in the sand, so the hotel should at least provide these idiots with ashtrays and have them alarmed. They put us in a room that has no screens on the window, as a result we were hunting mosquitos in our room and slept with the window closed. The back side of the hotel, where you park your car and get up the stairs to get to your room (ergo, you get past there several times per day) stinks due to their cesspool overflowing or whatever. The stench is unbearable. The hotel is obviously understaffed. The cleaning ladies are 60+ years old and they're not enough to keep the place in one piece. This is outrageous for workers' rights means as well.
I could go on for ever, unfortunately I have to give 1-star, zero is...
Read moreThe hotel has nice location, 100 m from the beautiful Koviou beach. The rooms are bit small and dark, but the housekeeping is very good. There are two nice pools (small one for the children and a bigger one suitable for swimming). The water quality in the polls is questionable because it is maintained “manually”. Every evening a guy from the housekeeping is throwing by hand some kind of solid disinfectant, which is done completely without measure. This can be potentially harmful for the eyes and the skin. There is small children playground – noting special but useful for small child amusement. The parking is not organized, it is on tarmac and it does not have enough capacity for all guests. Because it is open for every visitor of the beach, if you move your car you can end up without parking space, even though you are staying in the hotel. There is no WiFi in the rooms, only around reception desk!!! The personal is generally very kind, except one guy from the reception desk. He is only pretending that he is in charge, but when some complain arrives from the guest he is not sure for anything, and the answer is – I will inform the manager. He even lied to us, when we complained about the food quality he said that the chef left them and they have new one, and in other occasion he said that the chef was ill so they had new one. Whit his manners he could not run a grocery store, serious hotel reception desk is way out of his league. Very few of the personal have fluent English – this might be a problem. The breakfast is satisfying although identical and boreing every day. The dinner is HORIBBLE! If you decide to stay in this hotel do not waste money on dinner. In 7 days we had twice burgers (two days in a row, they just re-baked them a bit for the second day), two times chicken nuggets, once chicken chops, once pork meet with cabbage and once stuffed peppers. One evening they served souvlaki, but they run out of them and they turned for the rest of the guest with chicken nuggets!!! This was terrible way to make quests discrimination! Because of this we didn’t want to take the dinner and we informed the “reception genius” that we are not eating dinner for the rest of our stay including this diner. He said OK, but when we left the hotel he charged us 4 Eur for one plate of salad taken from...
