Porto Heli Apartments — Hotel in Municipality of Sitia

We are a family of 5, two adults and three boys. For many summers (at least 8), we have been going on holiday to Palekastro, renting an apartment from Yiannis and Theodoulos Santimpantakis on their property in Porto Heli. As the kids have grown up in the last two years, we have only 4 of us occupying the apartment to have more space. Porto Heli apartments have unique characteristics, in my view. They are traditional-looking stone apartments located on a small hill at a short distance from the village along the road leading to Vai. The apartments are really well built and perfectly maintained. They all have two rooms, with a bathroom and a kitchenette. They are surrounded by olive and peach trees and look directly over the beautiful small port of Palekastro and the bay of Kouremenos. The Santimpantakis family takes care of the cleaning and maintenance of the apartments in a very professional way. In many years of vacation in Palekastro, we have never had any problems. We have always enjoyed ourselves, welcomed with hospitality and genuine sympathy by everyone. Our vacation weeks in Porto Heli have always been fantastic, but they all went by too rapidly. Every year, leaving to return to our home in Milan, we feel a little sadness. But every year, we said goodbye to the Santimpantakis family, announcing that we would return the following year as soon as possible after the winter. And this also happened in the horrible year of 2020 when the covid pandemic raised fears that it would not be possible to...

We stayed in one of the 5 apartments of Porto-Heli for 3 nights - October 4-6, 2013. The apartments are a couple of kilometers outside Paleokastro on the road to Vai beach and overlooking Kouremenos beach. Aside from a slight mustiness in the rooms when we first arrived, our stay was very enjoyable. The apartment was quite large for 2 people and the private patio was great. The kitchen was well-equipped and the appliances, while older, worked well. "John" our landlord was friendly, helpful and, obviously, a nice guy. We would not hesitate to stay here again on a return visit...

Lovely place just outside Palekastro and at less than 1 km from Chiona beach. From some apartments you can watch the sea. Every apartment has a little garden in which you can have breakfast in the morning. Coming from Palekastro you already are on the road to the famous beach of Vai and the wonderful one of Itanos is just a little bit farther.
