Bit of a strange hotel. The facilities were lovely and very new, however, despite this the environment was far from relaxing.
By the pool, the music being played was often very loud and sporadic. Songs would be played for a few seconds and then would switch. The volume was far too loud and their were also children and family members running around, both of which made it tricky to relax. The music also continued past sociable hours, making it tricky to sleep.
Additionally, breakfast did not meet expectations. The filter coffee provided was cold, there were no bowls for the cereal and yoghurt, and the warm options left a bit to be desired. Service at breakfast was also poor. It took a very long time for a coffee order to be taken and to be offered water. When we were finally able to order coffees (as mentioned above, what was already provided was not up to scratch), both my partner and I specified we would like no sugar in our coffees. What came was possibly the sweetest coffee I have ever tasted, I would go as far to say it was undrinkable.
I wish I could end it here, but unfortunately there were some other issues with the ‘service’. In the room was a bright white ‘night light’ (street lamp level bright) which apparently is in every room and there is no way to turn it off. We enquired about a solution to this problem and what we were met with was laughable. The manager had no problem telling us that he would be able to sleep with the light on (not sure this matters?) and made us feel like we should just be putting up with it. When we pushed he came up with the most hap-hazard solution, to put a towel over it, and asked us if we thought it might catch fire as he wasn’t sure. He then concluded ‘it’s fine, but not impossible it would catch fire’. His other suggestion was to call the manager and to then come back and disturb us when we were trying to sleeping.
A few suggestions for improvement for a new hotel that management might want to take on board....
Read moreTo look at, the hotel is nice and the pool area is definitely the best thing about the hotel but our stay here was not worth the money for a glorified pool.||Upon arrival our room was disappointing; the room reeked of bleach (hardly boutique vibes), no windows for any natural light, the bed was not made and worst of all we had an ants nest. The tap also broke after the first night and the door was broken too which meant we constantly had bugs crawling under the door into our room on top of the ants nest.||The location is also bitterly disappointing and incorrect on this website. If you map from this site the walk into Oia is 15 mins, whereas in reality it is at least 30 mins and not a nice walk - largely uphill along a very busy, dirt road.||The breakfast was very basic and bland. They do not replenish the food and if you are last to get food at 9.30/10am expect to find empty trays. A lot of reviews say the same thing and it’s a shame the hotel haven’t listened to these reviews and improved the breakfast selection.||Finally, the staff show no professionalism or enjoyment in what they do. When we told the hotel manager about the ants next, for example, it took them three days to fully rectify it.||After spending two weeks before island hopping to other places I can honestly say this hotel was the worst we stayed at. I would recommend finding a hotel closer to Oia with more reviews and experience in running a boutique hotel where you can meet the expectations of people paying a lot of money to stay there||⭐️ 2 stars, given to the pool and the comfy sun beds||Note, this has been in my draft reviews. I stayed here in September 2022 and things may well have improved...
