We took our 5 year old with us and we quickly discovered that this place seems to be more for couples. They provided a cot for our kid but we didn't feel it was necessary since she slept in the king size bed with us.
They give us room 104 it was spacious gorgeous and very modern. It just opened up in May of 2018 and everything looks brand new. It seems every single room here has a hot tub and a spacious balcony. Our balcony overlooked the sunset so you don't even have to go to town to watch if you did not feel like it. The service and accommodation here is world class and you pay for it.
There is an infinity pool facing the Aegean sea with shimmering turquoise tile. The most gorgeous pool I've seen in Greece so far. There are about 4 Lounge beds on one side embedded into the pool. Lounge chairs are plentiful and are completely padded. Very luxurious.
Breakfast was quite fine though they don't really have a lot of choices. And the choices don't really vary from day to day. Although we never had lunch or dinner here, our kid was starving during one lunch time so we ordered shrimp with linguine send to our room. It was quite good.
The one hiccup about our room was that the electronic safe was not working. It was a modern looking digital safe with a glass front. It never quite work so they had to unhook it and get it sent out to be fixed. The hotel manager just offered to store our valuables in the hotel safe.
Our location was very very quiet which is quite different from the Caldera side of Oia. I read somewhere that the best way to get around Santorini is by bus. I beg to differ as renting a car is much better. The downside of this however is looking for parking.
The shipping line of our Ferry incorrectly published the arrival time so by a stroke of luck the transfer did not occur. At Athinias port, we were approached by Nikos and offered us a car rental for 35 Euro per day. Being one that never takes the first offer, I went to the car rental next door talked a guy down to 30 Euro for a rental car. I went back to Nikos who happened to be the actual manager of Santo Car Rental and talked him down to 25 Euro. I am thinking that he only took my offer because of Unleased inventory. Mind you I rented stick shift during High season so your mileage may vary with automatic transmission. If you're not used to Mountain driving you might want to let others do it for you. Some great you are quite steep and hairpin turns are quite frequent.
I was hearing from other tourists that the buses were usually filled to capacity and some had to be turned away from a ride. If you consider your time and convenience, the car rental is the way to go. There are scooter and ATV rentals here. I would proceed with caution is the crowded streets with people and cars can get...
Read moreAvoid this hotel. We booked to stay here for 5 nights. On arrival we were given room 101, one of their 3 junior suits that back onto the main road with a view of a derelict field and a building site. The noise from the room was horrendous from traffic rushing by all night long, a nights sleep in this room is impossible. We complained to the manager when we arrived and were told no other rooms were available but would be the next day, he then proceeded to tell be that if I was concerned about people on the road looking at me having private time with my wife, not to be concerned because people in Santorini just don’t look!! The next morning we went back to reception we’re we met the rudest persons I have ever interacted with in my life. She told us eventually after listening to her lies for an hour that if we weren’t happy with the room to please leave the hotel and she would not refund us any of our money, we were also told that it was in the booking confirmation that the room backs onto a noisy main road into Santorini ( another lie) but check your booking confirmation before staying here. The reception then told us to leave any review we like online because she will simply reply and deny it all as she will have the final say, she said with a smirk. After my wife got upset we had no choice but to leave and lose our money, they also refused to offer us the use of the shuttle bus to our new hotel as the hotel is a lot further from Santorini than advertised and no footpath to walk on. When we left we were called 10 times to pay the €3 local area tax for the one night we stayed. We stayed in another hotel in Santorini overlooking the caldera and had a true Santorini experience that was unforgettable. Unlike Myst Boutique which I hope I can forget forever. I won’t be reading any response from the hotel as I’ve heard enough from them for a life time. Totally...
Read moreI was really excited about this hotel as I had read great reviews online and it was the last stop on our trip. We decided to book just outside of Oia to avoid the issue of transportation into properties overlooking the Caldera. In July you can barely move in Oia due to the cruise ship visitors so luggage would have been a nightmare. Myst hotel has a number of rooms that get the sunset, or you can watch it by the pool, which is a huge bonus! I hadn't realised when booking that the hotel is on a hill on the main road into Oia. We had two rooms booked, a suite with a private pool and a room in front of the pool with sea views. We were given a suite overlooking the car park and the main road (I think it gets the sunset though), which I asked to change but unfortunately they were fully booked. What was strange was, the room wasn't ready when we arrived and they moved a couple out of there into a larger suite so we could have that room. The couple who got moved were very confused and annoyed but they got a better room and left the following day anyway. Unsure why they didn't just upgrade us? We ended up not coping with the noise from the road on the first night. There were quad bikes going up and down the road all night long. We requested to move the following day and got a significantly better located room. Breakfast was delivered to our room every day and was delicious. Cocktails by the pool were outstanding. The pool is beautiful but you need to get in early if you want an umbrella. The loungers in the pool are fabulous for sun lovers! Thankfully, Myst offers a free luxury car service to and from Oia. It isn't far, but it is a very busy road and walking up and down in the July heat is exhausting. Myst is child friendly but definitely attracts a more...
