I could not believe the level at which I would be taken care of when I booked this place. I was able to be checked in early and was properly shown all of the facilities (Thanks Penny). While waiting I was able to get a coffee a look at the sea, what an enchanting view. After a very small wait - I was lead to my room. Once I went in I was mesmerized! The bathtub was like my very own spa tub! I obviously spent a lot of time there. The room had AC, comfortable bedding and a balcony with the best view ever. The pool beach chairs seemed very new. The breakfast was the best and most fresh buffet I have eaten while on vacation. Their entire menu was suitable for all diets! The food was well seasoned and delicious. Unfortunately I caught a cold from the wind and cold water in the sea but little did I know they would nurse me back to health. Special thanks to Dimitri’s, Johanna and Maria at the front desk. They fed me and gave me chamomile tea, honey and lemon. Being a solo traveler Im used to taking care of myself but this was outstanding. Thanks for making this place feel like a home in paradise. I will be returning and telling all of my tech colleagues about this place. Thank you all so much! I cannot recommend this...
Read moreDe Sol Hotel in Santorini is a great place to stay; it's stunning, modern, clean, and has a range of amenities. Upon arrival, the staff are very welcoming and friendly. They're happy to assist with anything, with a smile on their face. A special mention to Maria, Victoria, and Dimitris, who helped out and made our stay extra comfortable and easy. There's a shuttle that heads into Fira 4 times a day, but I would recommend hiring a scooter or car, as there's not a heap to do within walking distance. Our favourite area was the pool. It's so beautiful and you could easily spend hours lying by it. The decor of the room is exceptional, and you really feel like you're surrounded by luxury. Breakfast was fantastic, with a huge selection of delicious options. The gym looked great, but we couldn't snap out of our relaxation mode to give it a try. The only suggestion I can make is that for a hotel of that class, I would expect a better selection of English speaking channels. All we found were news channels on repeat or episodes of NCIS. It was a bit of a letdown for the one night we stayed in.|Apart from the channels, this hotel was a great choice, and I could happily recommend to anyone. |Thank you De Sol Team, you...
Read moreStylish rooms? Sure. But only if you enjoy the sound of traffic while pretending to relax. We booked a standard room and the balcony faced what might as well have been a highway. Sitting out there felt like doing yoga on the side of a freeway. Want actual peace? Pay up for the superior room, at least you won’t need noise-cancelling headphones to sleep. That room is actually amazing.
Breakfast? No complaints. Solid spread, tasty stuff. The only part of the stay that didn’t feel like a negotiation.
Now, about that location. You’re not in Fira, you’re in “close-but-not-quite” land. They offer a shuttle, which is great, but only until 20:00. After that, it’s either a cab (if you can find one and don’t mind paying €15 sharing with others) or a moonlit death march back to the hotel.
The staff? Sweet, but clearly in over their heads. Like, “first day of summer job” energy. Cleaning was inconsistent and every request felt like we were teaching them how hotels work. You get the sense they were hired five minutes before we checked in.
Oh and shoutout to the design team: great job. Just a shame it’s let down by rookie management and a location that goes to bed...
