This is a very unique, almost museum style hotel. We were told no 2 rooms are alike. The room we had was huge. It consisted of 2 separate rooms on the 2nd floor. No elevator. Furnishings are very old, some of them actually very beautiful. The bathrooms need definitely updating. We had an info sheet in the room and one of the info points was for the shower, pointing out to let the water run 4 min to have it turn warm! We were on the second floor, but apparently that evening (a Saturday night) the Guatemalans went to bed late and rose very early next morning. That might have had to do, that every Sunday there is a huge market - really something to see! - and the farmers come very early, like 3 or 4 am to start setting up their stands. And this huge market is located right next to the hotel. The market itself is not only huge but also very colorful. ||Across the street from the main hotel building are more rooms, a bar and a restaurant. We had only a pasta dinner which was excellent. As everywhere in Guatemala, only drink bottled water. Which needs also be used for brushing teeth!!!! The hotel would not exactly have been our choice, but it was in a save area and close to the market. The beds were very comfortable, though. The covers were warm and heavy. But the room was too noisy to open the window, unfortunately. ||Breakfast was very good and plentiful for us. ||The roads throughout the city are terribly, ladies forget heeled shoes! Sneakers...
Read moreSummary: nice looking, but very noisy rooms, costly for the service provided, unprofessional management ——— Unfortunately the hotel does not live up to its own mission and vision. If you are looking for a quiet night of sleep don’t recommend this hotel. Definitely avoid Rooms A09 and D22. Room A09 is directly exposed to the main road on two sides of the room and numerous loud trucks and motorcycles pass. Upon asking for a more quiet room, we were relocated to D22. D22 is located right next to the water pump for the entire building complex. The water pump runs 1 minute on 1 minute off until 11PM and again from 1AM, I.e. you can get a quiet 2 hour sleep. Somewhat strange to relocate guests looking for a quiet night to an even louder room. Hotel administration was made aware during and after the fact, did not offer a refund, did not offer any solution or otherwise consolation.
It is really a pity, because the hotel is indeed really beautiful, very cozy with the fireplace at night, and centrally located in the city. The staff (not office management) are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is small...

I have been twice to Guatemala and never had a bad experience, like this hotel which is owned by the travel agency Clark Tours.|We spent one night before heading to Lago Atitlan.|The check-in was not an easy one. You stand outside on the sidewalk waiting to be let in to check in.|Our room looked beautiful, but that night when we returned from dinner, there was no running water for the toilet or the shower.
