Bottom Line Up Front— Nice Hotel, great Staff, great dive experience-Overall great value||I was very impressed with my experience at Hotel Marsol this weekend. The hotel was recommended by a travel advisor here on the military base in Honduras where I am working. The convenience of doing my Open Water Dive Certification with the integrated Hotel and dive operation made for a seamless experience. The room was very clean; the hotel seemed fresh and well maintained. The included daily breakfast was very good. Drinks, non-alcoholic and alcoholic, were available at the front desk and cheaper than buying outside of hotel. The Dive Instructor, Vanessa, was punctual, informed, and a very good instructor, the diver staff was very patient as my dive partner and I experienced all the "1st Open Water jitters". The dive sites selected were amazing; unmolested coral reefs. Their dive gear and dive boat were only months old, quality, and in great condition. It was a much better value compared to flying to the bay islands, and honestly I do not think my experience would have been any better. There is a tour bus that runs from TGU to Tela; I jumped on at Siquatepeque; $12.00 one way--too easy. ||The owners were great people and very accommodating. The hotel had great staff and security; they did walk around security checks on all the rooms and had a security monitoring system. Tela itself was a great location; nice little water front food and evening relaxation spot. Much safer and friendlier than inland where I am currently working. It is a great place to relax, eat, and dive some amazing sites. I would like to dive here again and spread the word of this wonderful town...
Read moreI know that Honduras is a very dangerous country and I had read that there is a lot of crime but I never imagined that staying at this hotel was the worst in the world when I arrived Man attended me at the reception I left my luggage in the lobby !! inside the reception!!!! because I was going to eat something with my family, then I came back and when the rooms were ready for check-in I noticed that my suitcase was not completely closed, at night when I tried to find my iPod with my headphones I couldn't find them, I went down to reception and I found the same man, in a very bad way he told me that they could not do anything, I asked to check the cameras but he did not want to help me, I asked to see the hotel manager but he said NO. He told me that he was the only one in charge, he didn't let me see the manager, the next day I ran out and stayed at another...
Read moreThe staff couldn't have been nicer. But I wish I had known no one uses insulation in Honduras. I am a light sleep so the noise level made it impossible to sleep. Even in the US I need white noise. At the Hotel Marsol the bars nearby kept me awake until 2 AM then the traffic from 5 AM on. A fan and A/C did little to alleviate the noise. The next time I travel to Honduras I will bring head phones or noise blocking ear plugs. ||||The ladies who clean and cook breakfast couldn't have been nicer ad the eggs were amazing! Who knew eggs could be great?||||The desk staff and security guards went out of their way to provide excellent service even when we wanted beer in the middle of the night. ||||I will absolutely stay in this...
