We had fun visiting the City of Tela on May 12 and 13, 2017. Staff is helpful and nice. Ms. Raquel was the person we mainly worked with and she was well informed about the activities around the city. We stayed in the suite on the ground floor. The room had 2 bedrooms: The master bedroom had a queen sized bed' the second room had 2 single beds. I do have 2 complaints: The AC in the master bedroom did not work well. The second night was almost unbearable sleeping in the room. The second room had an AC unit that worked well so we all stayed in that room. Still, that AC unit was loud. My second complaint is not about the hotel. But keep in mind there's a karaoke bar nearby and the drunken people would sing all through the early hours of the morning. They certainly had no talent to sing!!! No doubt this was beyond the hotel's control. But it's something to keep in mind.||||We spent our time at the pool which was clean and delightful. The water was cool and clean.||||The hotel is near the beach. My wife, daughter, and I walked to the beach and through the local market. It was a great experience. The hotel can be seen from the beach so there's no way to get lost. ||||The hotel has its own restaurant. We had the breakfast which was included in the price. Not a bad option. My wife had the crepes with fruit. My daughter had the omelette. I had the eggs with bacon. All 3 dishes were tasteful and visually inviting. We also ate dinner at the hotel. The breaded shrimp is a great dish. The lasagna is awesome. And Ms. Raquel is a helpful and attentive host. There is no in-room dining, but sitting in the patio area of the restaurant is a great experience since the view is fantastic.||||The high point of our visit was going up to the top of the hotel to admire the scenery. What a beautiful place! That alone made our stay well worth our stay. ||||Keep in mind this is a rustic hotel. No huge luxuries. But my family and I enjoyed it very much. We had a guard near our room which made our stay feel secure. There is wifi available in the room, but there are times when it will be just impossible to connect. If you're patient,...
Read moreAs someone who has dedicated much of my life to celebrating and promoting the beauty of Honduras,re -discovering Maya Vista felt like stepping into a dream that captures the very heart of our country. Perched high in the hills, the hotel gives you a bird’s-eye view of the Caribbean Sea on one side and the rolling green landscapes of Honduras on the other—a reminder of just how blessed we are as a nation. I need to add this perfect for : 1.Early morning bird watching Excepcional location for 📸 Photoshoot and filming
What impressed me most was how seamlessly Maya Vista combines eco-conscious design with comfort. The wooden details, the open-air flow, and the sense of being embraced by nature make you feel like you’re part of the forest itself, without sacrificing modern amenities. This balance is something I deeply value, because it reflects the harmony we strive for in Honduran culture—respect for tradition, while embracing progress.
The restaurant is a true highlight. Sitting at a table with panoramic views while enjoying local flavors prepared with international finesse reminded me why Honduran cuisine deserves to be on the world stage. (Free Breakfast and Early Morning Coffee ) From the freshness of the ingredients to the warmth of the service, every meal was more than just food—it was an experience.
But perhaps what touched me most was the hospitality. The staff welcomed me not as a guest, but as family. That’s the Honduran spirit I know so well—the kind of warmth that makes you linger in conversation, laugh under the stars, and feel at home even miles away.
Whether you’re swinging on the hammock, or watching the sun dip below the horizon, or visiting my friend i grew up or visiting cultural treasures of my friends who reside in the different Garifuna villages, I can honestly say that Maya Vista offers more than a stay—it offers a story, a memory, a connection to the soul of Honduras.
If you are seeking authenticity, peace, and beauty, I can confidently say Maya Vista is one of our finest hidden gems.

Read moreMy husband and I traveled to Honduras for our 1 year wedding anniversary and booked through Garifuna tours. This was our stay in Tela for 3 nights total. Let me just say, this place is wonderful! The owner is French Canadian and his parents built the place. It's quaint, lovely, and overlooks the beautiful water. We enjoyed many a night just sitting on the balcony at the restaurant, sipping a wonderful cocktail while we just watched the waves. The food is also absolutely remarkable at the restaurant and literally every single cocktail was masterfully crafted. We spoke to the owner (He speaks French, Spanish, English) and he's a genuinely nice guy! ||||At one point, my husband got a bout of Montezuma's revenge (on our anniversary night might I add...poor baby lol) we think it was from a fruit cart he tried. We walked to the pharmacy to get him something and the owner noticed us walking back and actually put us in touch with his neighbor who is a doctor and told us that if at any point we need anything, we can call him personally at any point throughout the night. It really meant so much that he was so helpful and caring! Fortunately hubby was perfectly fine the next morning! ||||The location is great, you're right within the city of Tela and walking distance to the beach. The rooms are comfy and spacious, and the hotel is the tallest building in the city so you can climb up and there's a remarkable view. I would absolutely recommend staying here. Great food and drinks, great company, great views, what more...
