The short version is this recently-opened hotel is a great place to stay.||When I checked in one of the managers was helping a new front desk person check me in and was effusive in greeting me.||This has the exact same Aloft vibe you'd get at any other location. The room was quiet, bed comfy and a small refrigerator in the room.||I was working some long days, so I'm a bit embarrassed to say two of those nights I was too tired to eat at one the restaurants in the neighborhood and ate at the hotel restaurant.||The restaurant has a similar limited menu to other Alofts. It's not haute cuisine, but it's much better than eating fast food.||Speaking of fast food there is a Popeye's and a Dunkin' Donuts around the corner, if that's your thing.||There is a breakfast buffet with scrambled eggs (could have been cooked a little longer IMHO), sausage, beans and fried plantains. There was also a selection of meats a cheese. Not a bad way to start the day. Not sure of the price because I haven't done my expenses yet.||After checking in, I was always greeted by name, something I usually experience only at Ritz Carltons. Nice touch.||There is a rooftop pool. Saw it from my room, but never had time to visit it.||While waiting in the lobby our local contact bumped into the Marriott corporate person who was visiting. She apologized for the staff's learning curve.||I'm a lifetime Marriott Reward Platinum member (at least 50 nights a year for 10 years). I know the brand well. This hotel will do just fine.||I stayed here for three nights on a work trip that had been previously scheduled in June before this place had opened. I would have stayed at their nearby Intercontinental, which I'm sure would have been fine.||That being said, if I visit again, I'd stay...
Read moreI stayed at this hotel for 11 days in April 2024, and I can honestly say it was one of the best hotel experiences I've ever had. From the moment I checked in until the day I left, the staff was consistently welcoming, attentive, and professional. They created a warm environment that made me feel more like a guest in someone's home than just a customer.
The rooms were spotless, comfortable, and well cared for. The hotel itself was peaceful, making it the perfect place to rest and recover, as I had just undergone surgery during my trip.
What truly stood out was the kindness of the hotel manager, Caroline Borduc. She went out of her way to make sure I felt comfortable, and as a heartfelt gesture, she surprised me with a basket of fresh pastries from a French bakery in San Pedro Sula. This thoughtful act touched me deeply and is something I will never forget. It's not often that managers take such a personal interest in their guests' well-being, and it speaks volumes about the level of hospitality here.
Beyond that, the staff was always available to answer questions, offer recommendations , and ensure that everything ran smoothly throughout my stay. Whether it was arranging small requests or simply greeting me with a smile, their warmth and professionalism made a huge difference.
I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. If you are looking for not only comfort and quality but also genuine human kindness during your travels, this is the place to stay. A true 5-star experience from...
Read moreFor being a Marriott property, I must say that this property falls short of the Marriott global standards. Having stayed at hundreds of Marriott properties all over the world, many of them in Latin America, this property disappointed me.
Medicocre breakfast to start the morning. The night prior with the worst check in experience in nearly 20 years of staying at hotels over the world. This was probably due to the lack of training of the front desk staff. I've never fell so under-appreciated as a Titanium level member as I did at this property. Nearly didn't get any recognition or amenities at my stay with my BonVoy level... this is probably what ticked me off the most. I've felt more welcomed and gotten better treatment at a Hilton with only a Gold level. Marriott, please do something with this hotel. This property is giving your brand a bad name.
The hotel is at a prime location, but so is the Hilton and Hyatt down the street. I guess I'll go use my gold level at the princess or my blue level with Hyatt next time I come...
