It is some times difficult to judge a single review on a hotel as peoples standards tend to be quite different. At the time of writing, this hotel is in a very very bad need of renovation. We got there on the hottest day of the summer season (almost 42C) to be greated by some very dingy rooms without air conditioning and any possibilities of improving air circulation. On day 2 we bought fans. Being in the rooms was worse than being in an oven.||The indoor pool was quite nice. The area is close to a newly opened shopping area styled as a small greek village. That said, it the upscale part of town. The boweling alley was a hoot! If they every do renovate this is one relic that should be preserved. The grounds are also nice though I couldn't think of a single reason why I'd want to stay there.||The boweling alley closes at midnight so if you're in a room close by.... The staff is quite friendly but they just didn't seem to know how to anticipate what people would be looking for. They also had an annoying habit of keeping exits locked. They also didn't know about pharmacies and other thing around the hotel.||There is free internet as advertised. However you get it because their wireless router is unlocked and you could access as long as you sat in the right chair right next to the boweling alley.||All in all I would this is one to avoid unless they do a serious...
Read more[----]||The Hotel Agro in Balatonfüred is sited in a run-down area of town some distance from the lake. It would appear to be left over from the communist era – indeed very little seems to have been done to it since then. It is vast with long dimly-lit corridors, the walls of which show signs of damp penetration. Everything in our room was very basic and utilitarian. There were not even any proper beds, only four convertible easy chairs, two of which had been folded down into beds for us. In the en-suite bathroom the single tap on the basin doubled as the tap for the bath and the shower. Even the loo seat was the cheapest I have ever encountered. Added to this the staff seemed to lack any sense of purpose and breakfast, that was supposed to start at 07:00, was not available until 07:45.||The only saving grace was the very large indoor swimming pool which I would guess was about 25 metres in length. ||A wedding celebration was in progress when we arrived and the festivities continued (loudly) until 04:30, which...
Read moreThis is a communist-era enormous hostel/hotel that has beautiful grounds, strange inefficient layout and staff that don't really speak English. There are lots of services which are advertised and don't seem to exist (massages? really?). It's kind of like a summer camp or dormitory more than a hotel. They even have a bowling alley in the hallway of the hotel, if you can believe it. If you find a booking for cheap and you don't expect too much, you won't be disappointed. If you are looking for a luxurious hotel that will provide a 5 star experience, you will be very disappointed (like the other reviewers). Really, though, I didn't think that this place was so terrible. If you're exploring around Balaton on a budget and need a place to stay for cheap Agro...
