My partner and I rented a campervan, and in Heimaey there's only two camping spots that popped up on my gps. I'm so glad we chose this one! It was situated in a beautiful area (like everywhere on Heimaey). We could see the ocean, the golf course, and a ridiculously tall mountain. There were walking paths to the town and towards other hiking that my partner and I explored after dinner. The facilities were top notch! The kitchen had everything we needed (3 burners, 2 sinks, coffee maker, electric kettle, all dishware, all cookware, and spices). It also had plenty of seating and along two of the walls were electric outlets so we could charge our devices while making dinner/breakfast. There are two bathrooms inside the building, one with a shower. Outside the facility were 2 more bathrooms that were always clean along with 3 more showers, though we didn't use them. What I did not appreciate was the constant harrassment by the staff member (who gave us permission to cook there BTW!) to 'hurry up' when we had only stayed at most an hour and a half! Being asked questions that suggest we were trying to freeload or take advantage of the area (such as 'you aren't staying over night are you?' and 'why is it taking so long') after receiving explicit permission put a sour taste in my mouth....

You can camp but I choose one of the barrel type accommodations which feature a small porch, sitting area just inside the door and 2 twin beds plus a mini fridge. I recommend you purchase the optional linen package which includes a duvet. There are also A style cabins.||||Behind you rise some amazing mountains and in front of you just past the golf course is the Atlantic Ocean. The nearby main building provides a common area to prepare meals (if you wish) with plenty of dishes, stove, etc. The showers and washrooms are next door. The owner pops by every so often to register you in but if she is not there just give her a call.||||While a bit basic for something different you must try this if visiting the...
