Excellent Icelandic food. Totally worth it, even if expensive.

My wife and I had 2 of their recommended menus (5 courses) and we each loved about every single course that we got. The 2 items we ordered were: Menu #1: Sulppurinn's Most Popular - Cured Lamb, Lobster Soup, Fish of the Day, Leg of Lamb & Rhubarb, Rhubarb Confit) Menu #2: Gourmet Feast (Cured Lamb, Lobstertails, Fish of the Day, Grilled Beef Ternderloin, Chocolate Mousse).

The portions are very decent and you will be full at the end of your dinner.

The only thing that did not 100% convince us was the lobster soup, but that is more likely tied to the fact that we just didn't like the chocolaty taste of the soup, rather than the Slippurinn version of it. To be fair, we had had lobster soup earlier during our trip, and this one, while not to our taste, was definitely better than the first one we had.

We also had a couple of their cocktails, which were very interesting spins of the basics. My wife essentially had a rhubarb mojito and I had a Gin-based drink with some local wildflowers.

Absolutely recommend the place and will return if I...

To be honest, last year we came and it was a disappointment,we came again this year to give it another shot but we wont be back. The servise is not good, no knowledge about wine or food, nobody gave us bread or water, noone told us when ordering cod head that we should order some sides. We shared starters and were told to eat first pate, then guillemot and wings, cod wings -great dish, cod pate -good dish too, but the guillemot was cold and small for 4500 isk not complex puree was good, then they served us main forgot to give us cutlery, the cod head was interesting but nothing outstanding, it was only the head without any pickles/sides/again not complex dish, sorry but sides you can order are potatoes and carrots?that doesnt even make sense for this dish, there was no effort from the chefs, they have only basic wine by the glass and toilet was dirty with broken seats, it definitely needs improvement the price and quality dont...

Expected much more to be honest. The place is busy I get it,but it was disorganized and understaffed. We traveled 4 hours for the experience we did have a reservation and when we wanted to order they have already run out of macrelle and cod head which was really something we went all the way for.Scallops and cod wing were good, urchin was ok,cured halibut was a boring dish, homemade kombucha was flat and homemeade kvas was way too sweet as well as "rhubarb soda"which was just sweet with not much flavour. Whole lemon sole was mushy and only creamy without any concept and other textures.Pine coctail was ok but not great. White wine by the glass they had only basic PG nothing else to choose from. As it was understaffed we were waiting to order few times and had to go to the bar to order or call someone who was rushing around us. Not...

The best meal you can have in Iceland is on this island. If you want to know the flavors of iceland this is the restaurant to try. We met the head bartender and one of the chefs havesting sugar kelp and told us all about the restaurant. The chef has incorporated the best flavors of iceland into every dish. I've never had such amazing flavor combinations. There are restaurants in Reykjavik that cannot come close to the dishes served here. I see a Michelin stars coming for this restaurant. We ordered the catch of the day (pleice), the lemon sole and the blue Ling. All 3 fish dish was executed perfectly. We ordered all of the starters except for the lamb and all 3 desserts. The rhubarb cake is a must. Do not leave vestmannaeyjar island without having a meal in Slipperinn.

This was phenomenal! I love how they managed to combine sustainability with nordic cuisine in an impeccable way! It is amazing how much care goes into creating the seasonal menues, the design and the sourcing of local ingredients only😍. We had the 7 tasting course(1 with fish and other vegetarian) and we were blown away by the textures and intricate flavour pairings! I particularly liked the cod skin, wild seabird eggs and the skyr dessert with sorrel sorbet! This was by far the best dining experience while in Iceland. Thank you, we will be back for sure💜. Reka and Alex.

Truly we just visited the island of Heimaey because of the Slippurinn. We had an amazing 8 course dinner with local dishes and ingredients & each course had its maximum of taste explosions. As a starter we had some really good cocktails with local herbs from the island which were so special and extraordinary in their tastes. We definitely enjoyed the kitchen and recommend everybody to go for a visit when you’re traveling to Iceland - experience this journey of new tastes. Also the staff was very kind and courteous. We’re looking forward to come back again! :-)
