I booked 2 rooms for 4 people family and had enquired on call and read everything before booking. After reaching there the “swimming trainers” Bala and raju started acting as if the hotel is theirs and spoke very unprofessionally and rudely with a high voice and started arguing that we cant get into the pool as we wore cotton. It is true that usually swimming costumes are only worn in a pool, but its not mandatory everywhere. I have worn cotton tights in other pools as well with no objection. If they have such a strict policy they should have informed on call or on the website about their mandatory rules. After we booked the hotel and reached the pool , he says we cant get inside and swim, nor can we sit with our legs in the water nor can i lift my pant and sit in the water without touching the cloth. Apparently “we” are dirtying their “water” and apparently their “guests” who were 2 swimming trainees in the pool would get “hurt” because of us. Not even including us in the guest category. These are the exact words from raju and bala. Extremely rude attitude, bala started yelling with the words “excuse me” to my mother, which is when i got really upset and angry. I was immediately going to ask for refund from manager but my mother was upset so i did not want to disturb her vacation further. I would have shifted hotels, but it was late night and we came for one night.
The only reason i calmed down was when i saw the reception staff, and in the breakfast section there is a wonderful and extremely kind and sweet boy who was hardworking and cared for all our requirements so smoothly - his name is faizan.
We mainly booked this hotel as we wanted to enjoy the pool and breakfast and a hygienic room (this was claimed under the amenities) . Pool the 2 boys give preference to his trainees. Even after i told raju i will take my own responsibility, he acts as if he is owning that pool. Breakfast was good and professionally managed.
There are also amenities like foot bath, spa, pool, etc mentioned on agoda ( these are separate business and you need to pay for) Golf was also written on site, when i asked them, they were confused so there is no such golf game...
Read moreMy fiancée and I recently stayed at the Gokulam Grand Hotel for six nights during our visit to Bangalore to be close to family. Despite the convenient location and the satisfying breakfast included in our stay, we were overall disappointed with our experience.
The rooms were spacious, but their aging condition and inconsistent maintenance left much to be desired. Housekeeping's performance varied, with some days showing thorough efforts while others reflected minimal attention or no service at all. As an example, housekeeping forgot to give us any towels during one day of our stay. Additionally, we encountered a leaking bidet in our unit, adding to the discomfort.
One significant disappointment was the "Extra Bed/2nd Person Charge." During our trip, we paid between 0 Rs. to 500 Rs. per night for a second person in hotels in Gujarat and Mumbai. However, Gokulam Grand charged 1,500 Rs. plus tax, claiming at checkout that we were receiving a discounted rate, as the usual charge was allegedly 2,500. The justification for this fee was not given even after questioning the on-duty manager. For the high cost, we only received an extra set of shampoo and conditioner, making the expense seem unreasonable.
Furthermore, our package supposedly included four pieces of laundry per person per day, as stated on their website. However, the laundry service consistently fell short, resulting in daily calls to ensure timely delivery. We were also surprised to learn that only one person's laundry was included in the package despite the website terms and conditions saying otherwise, and we were told by the on-duty manager that this was “graciously waived" during billing.
In comparison to previous positive experiences our family had at this hotel, it is evident that the new ownership is relying on the reputation of the former Mövenpick management without maintaining the promised 5-star experience they established. The combination of the aging property, subpar service, and questionable & dishonest management practices will lead to us staying elsewhere...
