I saw good ratings of Hostel Relax Homestay (हॉस्टल रिलैक्स होमस्टे) on Google, so I called before visiting. We were 3 people and asked for a personal room. On call, they said yes and told us not to book online — to book offline because it would be cheaper for both sides.
They mentioned ₹300 per person on the phone, but when we reached, the in-charge Mukesh said ₹600 per person for a 4-bed room. After some discussion, he agreed to ₹400 per person.
They included AC in the price but said they would only turn it on for a short time. Since it got quite cold, we didn’t use it much anyway.
Room was clean, bedsheet was clean too, but the pillow was too thick and not comfortable. Bathroom was clean but they didn’t provide fresh soap or shampoo. Flush of the commode kept getting faulty — they repaired it once after I told them, but it broke again later.
Since the hostel is right beside the road, vehicle noise is very loud at night. Also, Mukesh, the staff person, was smoking cigarette (and possibly ganja) in the hostel area in the evening — the whole place smelled bad when I went to inform him about the flush issue.
There was also a lady staff member, but I didn’t interact with her much, so can’t comment.
Overall, the stay was average, not worth the online ratings. Room cleanliness was fine, but staff behaviour and maintenance could be...
Read moreI don’t like to write this type of review but I like to contribute with the reviews. It also seems that we got this bad experience. We arrived to the property around 2pm. I had the booking and the confirmation that we were ok arriving at that time. The person who opened the door didn’t know what booking we had. She gave us a room that was not clean, she got mad with the guy that had to clean the room and didn’t do it. He started cleaning the room that had cigarettes all around the place, it smell really bad and the toilet was super dirty. The guy changed the sheets and “clean” the floor and they thought perfume around. The lady said we didn’t have to pay because it’s not normal situation for them. We slept there and we woke up with the noise from the street around 7am. We went to ask for a proper cleaning of the toilet and the room but they just said in one hour. At that moment we decided to go because the room was smelling bad and it was impossible to sleep or take a shower. We are very sorry for this review and I tried to explain with facts (leaving...

If you are in Gaya and looking for a friendly stay then blindfolded you can stay at this place where you have the option of either staying in bunk beds or in a separate room. You won’t get the cheapest and friendliest accommodation anywhere nearby, this homestay/hotel is located 1.5km away from the Gaya junction. The owners of this homestay Mukesh Bhaiya and Neha Didi both are amazing and friendly personalities, they offered me food and took me to the Garba nights. I stayed in the bunk beds which was very clean and well maintained, the toilet was clean too. The best part of this hostel is that they kept the kitchen accessible to every guest without paying extra. Next time I would especially visit this hostel to stay with...
