Well, first impressions first! Being an ex-resident of Bombay (a.k.a. Mumbai), my wife and I were enchanted with this Parsi corner of Delhi in the shape of the restaurant known as Rustom's Parsi Bhonu. The "Dharamsala" is really an Olde Worlde Hotel - like a Homestay almost - but the restaurant across is the one we're writing of. Lovingly created with informal seating and exceedingly helpful staff who obviously know their stuff, are familiar with the menu and prepared to go to infinite trouble to ensure you get to eat what's best AND enjoy it. Some of us chose the raspberry soda drink (this is a no-alcohol place) because it was so redolent of the Irani cafés of old Bombay. There were keema samosas, keema-pao for starters. The keema samosas were crisp but could have had a little more keema. 5 to a plate was a good serving. The keema pao was great tasting but the pao didn't match Mumbai standards. Too soft as a result, the keema soaked in too rapidly making handling a little squishy. Did we mind? Not at all! Other items ordered were small parcels of Patra ni maach. The combo with its chutney baked in the standard banana leaf was a delicate taste. We also ordered Salli boti, meat dhansak, paranthas, caramelized rice and a fish coconut milk curry-and-rice along with paos to mop up. They make all their own masalas and chutneys which are also on sale. They also make a very unusual cane sugar vinegar which is worth your while buying. When we commented on the quality of this we were told that some of the piquant tastes we had encountered were as a result of this. We'd go back like a shot. Repeated visits is the only way to eat your way through the menu with its selections of "all-day breakfasts" with the Parsi Akoori (egg bhujia), snacks, starters and mains. But it's work you have to do. Remember to book. It's...

Despite my late arrival, the staff displayed exceptional patience, eagerly awaiting my presence at the Dharamshala. Their excellence and kindness shone through as they went above and beyond to ensure my comfort and well-being during my stay. The staff's dedication to hospitality is genuine and unparalleled.
The room facilities were excellent, especially considering the chilly weather in Delhi during January. The room was equipped with a heater and had the added convenience of 24-hour running hot water. The delectable meals were a highlight, and the presence of an agiyari within the compound added a unique and spiritually uplifting dimension to my experience. Moreover, the convenient location of the Dharamshala allows for easy access to Delhi's cultural and historical treasures. The metro station is conveniently located right next to the dharamshala, ensuring easy and swift transportation. Whether it's exploring nearby markets or visiting iconic landmarks, the Dharamshala serves as the perfect base
