The Tato Hotel — Hotel in Goa

We visited this hotel for their restaurant on a Sunday, There is limited parking outside. The reception was warm and we were promptly shown to our tables. However we were shocked to here that they do not serve Goan Thali which is sacrilegious in Goa. Any restaurant (located in Goa) worth their salt, not serving the Goan thali is an affront to the local cuisine. Since we were already seated we did not want to be rude and walk out. The server suggested the day's special, Chicken Jalfrezi which we ordered with rotis. But it is standard stuff which is available at every nook and cranny. We wanted the local cuisine and we asked for Goan Fish curry rice, and we were served with kingfish curry and white steamed rice. When we checked with the waiter having asked him for Goan rice, he said this is what we serve. The white steamed rice was not fluffy at all and it was so dry, that it felt like eating soaked raw rice. The king fish curry was also very insipid, and the fish itself was grey, indicating that it was not fresh and was a long hoarded in the cold storage. Overall the experience was very bad and they spoiled our lunch....

Billing system is not streamlined. Complementary breakfast is actually just a ₹150 coupon where 1 glass of turmeric milk costs ₹140, so not really a breakfast. Connected "fine dining" restaurant is not at all fine dining. Staff are unsure of their own policies. The attendant considers cleaning the room as below him so he didn't care about having left a dirty floor in the bathroom after coming in to check the exhaust fan. When I asked him to get it cleaned, he still didn't do it properly, in the end, making me have to clean it. (The cleaning staff leaves sometime in the evening) The money they wasted on getting the Michelin stars should have been used to create better services.

On the other hand, the room is fine and heated water is easily available, so it's a viable option if others are...

It is a small property and I would judge accordingly. We stayed in this hotel because of its vicinity to airport on last day of our visit. Its a decent place to stay. Rooms are not verybig but reasonable. There is a small pool which was closed for maintenance but it is there.

Bathrooms are spacious and all the amenities were provided. There is complimentary tea or coffee and water bottlle.

We did not eat at the restraunt because we found veg food too expensive though everyone in the area was ga ga about it and we witnessed queues fo dinner even.

The strange thing is that most of the rooms do not have fans, only AC. Only few had fans.

The staff is good and helpful both at reception and house keeping which we found as big welcome change after our stay at Nazri...
