As someone booking travel from North America, finding a trustworthy hotel in India can be incredibly challenging. After a frustrating and suspicious experience with a previously booked hotel (where I was asked to pay outside the portal), discovering Fairmount Shimla Forest Greens was a huge relief. The booking process was simple, clear, and allowed us to settle our charges without complication, providing immediate peace of mind.

I traveled here with my 80-year-old parents, and the comfort of the hotel was paramount. The hotel is built on seven levels, all smoothly accessible by a modern lift, which made movement effortless for my parents.

The in-house restaurant was truly amazing, catering perfectly to our vegetarian breakfast and dinner needs. Beyond the facility, the staff was extraordinary:

Mr. Gaurav Sharma (Manager): He was the heart of our experience, tending to every single one of my needs with responsiveness and genuine care.

The Dedicated Staff: Rajinder, Kamlesh, Ashish, and Rahul, along with the entire team, were attentive and caring toward my parents, making their stay truly memorable.

They even helped me arrange excellent daily excursions, ensuring our sightseeing was comfortable and senior-friendly.

A Note on Payment: The only small hurdle was the inability to use international cards (including Wise) for additional expenses. This is common in many parts of India, so I highly recommend that guests carry adequate cash.

I recently visited Shimla with my family and had an amazing stay at Fairmount Shimla Forest Green. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warmth and hospitality. The rooms were spacious, well-maintained, and extremely comfortable, offering a perfect retreat after a day of exploring. The staff went above and beyond, always kind, cooperative, and ready to assist with a smile. No request was ever too much—they truly made our stay special with their attentiveness. One of the highlights was the food, which was absolutely delicious, fresh, and beautifully presented. I see lots of positive reviews for this hotel, but for us it was a very different experience.|I’ve given 2 stars for porters and the comfortable bed, but duvet cover was dirty.||It was February and so we expected a low temperature, but the hotel itself was really cold with no heating, in fact it was warmer outside than in the hotel.|A small heater in the bedroom was not sufficient. I asked for another heater. Yes we could have another heater, for an extra charge. I declined. Another duvet was offered and accepted.||Both breakfast and dinner menus very limited. Even so, we tried eating in the restaurant but were literally shaking with the cold - an infrared heater was placed by our table, but was less than useless.|The food was not good.|There was no laundry service during our stay.||When I told the manager/reception that the service, heating , menus, food were not good enough, I was told that it was, ‘out of season’.||We spent two nights at this hotel and couldn’t wait to leave.||If this hotel is going to remain open during the quiet season then it should offer the same service all year round.||Beware, the hotel does not take cards, they only wanted cash.||Neither the manager/receptionist or the restaurant staff showed any interest or concern about...
