From the moment we arrived, we were enveloped in peace, comfort, and thoughtful hospitality.

What makes this place so special isn't just its gorgeous hillside location, beautiful rustic decor, or well-kept surroundings — it's the people. Rajender, the caretaker, is a gem of a person. He welcomed us like family, ensured every detail was taken care of, and always had a warm smile ready. His humble, calm demeanor added to the tranquil charm of the place. Assisting him was Sunil, whose friendly energy and prompt help made everything seamless — whether it was setting up a cozy bonfire, serving hot chai in the chilly evenings, or helping us navigate small needs during our stay.

The property itself is stunning — a beautiful blend of wood, stone, and thoughtful design that immediately connects you to the natural landscape. The interiors are elegant yet understated, with large windows, soft lighting, and just the right amount of luxury to make you feel pampered without taking away from the "retreat" experience. The outdoor seating areas are perfect for sunrise coffees, lazy afternoon reading, or a starry dinner at night.

We went to Rustic Retreat looking for a digital and emotional detox — and we left feeling lighter, happier, and deeply refreshed. There’s something magical about this place that gently forces you to slow down, reconnect with yourself and nature, and appreciate the little things — chirping birds, rustling trees, and genuine conversations.

The Rustic Retreat is a beautiful and spacious cottage, which blends hotel and home comforts. There is a lot of attention to detail, and various things (my personal favourite is the floral, ceramic electric kettle in the living area!) that make the stay delightful. Situated on top of a hill, it has extraordinary views on all sides. It is very relaxing to spend time in the terraces, with cool breeze from the valley that the cottage overlooks. It is perfect for a quiet retreat, with the main areas of Kasauli nearby as well. Rustic Retreat is a charming villa away from the hustle of Kasauli main town but still at a walking distance from the Heritage Market. You get the best views of the mountains and the tricity from here. Rooms are big and each one has a big balcony overlooking the plains. The team at Rustic is amiable and helpful, their hospitality is top notch. The food was tasty and homely, Rajender ji and Sunil Bhaiya were great hosts.
