Review: My recent stay at Flora Cottage in Srinagar by Nigeen Lake had its share of pros and cons, making it an option primarily for budget-conscious travelers.

Pros:

Lakeside Location: Flora Cottage's setting by Nigeen Lake offers a serene and picturesque environment.

Basic Facilities: The room provides essential amenities and is well-suited for budget travelers.

Provided Beddings: Bedsheets and woollen blankets are supplied for your comfort.

Warmth in Chilly Nights: The provision of a hot water bag is a thoughtful touch for keeping warm.

Convenient Parking: Parking facilities within walking distance make it accessible for those with vehicles.

Local Activities: Shikara rides and access to other houseboats can be found nearby, enhancing the local experience.

Accessible Host: The host, Raj, is readily available for assistance and inquiries.

Cons:

Privacy and Shared Washroom: The biggest drawback is the lack of privacy, with a shared 2BHK. It’s good if it’s occupied by single family. Else, guests must share a single washroom, which can be inconvenient.

Washroom Concerns: The washroom is neat and decent but lacks a mirror, facewash basin, and has an inconvenient jet spray.

Family-Operated Kitchen: The kitchen is mostly managed by the host's family.

Distance from the City: The location is somewhat far from the main city, with no restaurants in close proximity, meaning limited dining options.

Food Costs: Homemade food, while available, is bit on the expensive side.

Breakfast Options: The breakfast menu offers limited choices.

In summary, Flora Cottage is a cost-effective option for budget travelers seeking a budget-friendly stay by Nigeen Lake. However, the shared living space, including the washroom, and limited privacy may not be suitable for everyone. It's most suited for bachelor nomads looking for a layover spot.

My stay at this charming cottage was truly memorable, and I owe much of that to the owner, Mr. Raj Mohamed. From the moment I arrived, he welcomed me with warmth and kindness, making me feel like a cherished guest rather than just a visitor. His hospitality was unmatched—he ensured that every aspect of my stay was comfortable and personalized, sharing local tips and even arranging transport when needed.

The cottage itself is beautifully maintained, offering cozy and clean rooms with traditional Kashmiri decor that adds to its charm. The surrounding garden is lush and filled with vibrant flowers, making it a perfect spot to unwind with a cup of tea while enjoying the serene view of Nageen Lake. The location is ideal for those who wish to escape the hustle and bustle, yet it’s still close enough to explore the nearby attractions.

We, two of us stayed for 4 nights on 2024 in Flora cottage. This quiet and small property with beautiful view 🏞️ is located on the Nigeen lakeside with garden full of flowers. It is conveniently located near Hazratbal Mosque 🕌 with numerous shops and restaurants and a garden in the neighbourhood. The room was clean and cozy with antique kashmiri furniture and carpeted floor. The bathroom was clean with both Western and Indian style toilets and 24/7 hot water supply. He provided hygienic and delicious breakfast. Mr. Raj Mohammad is a kind and helpful host. He gives the best services, He also provided us with a Shikara ride with very reasonable prices. I would highly recommend this budget friendly place for quiet stay with clean rooms and beautiful Nigeen lake view in a convenient location topped by Mr. Raj's hospitality.. Thank you very much brother Mr Raj Mohammed..
