Had booked a room for 2 nights, as a part of my Vaishno_Devi yatra...
Room (5/5): was very spacious & comfortable..d one i was allocated was on 4th floor, facing Trikuta mountain range...room had all d amenities with a plush bed which is soo soo required after a hard trek to Mata's Bhavan..Washroom had hot water facility 24/7..only con was the absence of an exhaust fan in the washroom...
Location (5/5): its situated on the main road itself near d market area..there r some shops nearby where v can buy dry fruits & stuff..i brought mata rani's pindi choli from one of d reputed shops here...but i would suggest to buy from any of the shops on d way to Banganga, as they have better & collection over there...
Service (5/5): Had booked dis hotel through MMT...Check-in was quite smooth..Welcome drink(green apple flavored) was very refreshing..they provide a complimentary one time pick-up & drop to the entry point of trek..After d trek, i took a foot massage service from the hotel, which was quite relaxing & a big relief for my aching legs..
Food (3.5/5): Breakfast will be complimentary & comprises a buffet serving north-indian, south-indian & English breakfast(purely vegetarian)..they have live counter serving dosa, paratha & poori..Idli could have been better...i would suggest others to eat in any of d gud dhabas nearby for lunch & dinner, as it is super expensive to eat here, with a plate of roti & sabji costing approx. Rs.750/-, a cup of chai costing Rs.250/- Complimentary mineral waters were provided in the room which was a nice gesture
Overall it was a very pleasant stay in Ramada, except for 1/2 cons...Would definitely recommend this hotel, for anyone wishing to stay in Katra...infact i would suggest if one wishes to have Mata Rani's darshan, its better to book a hotel in Katra, although u might have an accommodation booked at Bhavan, especially if u r travelling with aged parents..
Suggestion to d hotel: Have a help desk which provides information for first time travellers to Vaishno Devi mandir...tht would really...
Read morePros: Staff is helpful and polite, arranges for taxi as well which is really helpful given that mobile network isn't available for outside sims. Hotel and furniture is new. Location is conveniently close to Katra bus stand but not in the market so its relatively quiet. They will provide complimentary taxi to Yatra Registration Counter / Start of climb.
Deal breaking cons: The most annoying thing is that they keep deactivating your keycard everyday at checkout time, regardless of whether you are checking out that day or not. So everyday you stay there you will go to the room, realize that keycard is not working, and go back down. Towels are always damp. I also noticed a hair one day on the towel so stopped using it. They don't have a standard comforter set ( comforter + quilt + flat sheet ), and just have a very thick comforter which you can't sleep in even at the lowest AC setting ( 18 degrees ), and since there is no heater you can't heat the room to make it warm enough to sleep without one.
Minor Cons: Only 1 towel provided in our triple occupancy room ( although only 2 were occupying it ), even 2 star motels provide 2 x occupancy towels. The restocking is upto the guy doing it, sometime they would restock toiletries and towels, sometime they won't. You have to call them for everything. They have a light for whether we want housekeeping or not, regardless of that light they will come into the room. ( Most people don't even realize this is a thing, so maybe hotel staff doesn't care about that light which is understandable, but how do I ask them not come into my room ) I don't know why, but they only give you one keycard, despite us staying for a longer time. The doors beep twice when you open them and since a lot of people keep going in and out at night ( maybe they want to start their climb early ), you keep hearing them throughout the night and it gets hard to sleep, if you are a...
Read moreWe have only once stayed at a Ramada property in the past at Chandigarh. We had loved it thoroughly and hence booked this hotel in Katra without any hesitation. It’s conveniently located just 500 mtrs from the main market area. It’s a fairly new property, only a year old and hence looks fresh. Out of the three rooms we booked, one had a splendid view of the Vaishnodevi Hill. The rooms were extremely comfortable and well maintained. The swimming pool was not clean though. Had a lot of dead insects and leaves due to which we refrained from entering the pool. The food was good. The buffet breakfast menu was a bit of a disappointment as it did not have much variety. They offer complimentary drop by their hotel cars to Banganga once during the stay. No pickup though.
One sore experience was that at the time of check-in we were not informed about the complimentary packed breakfast being given to guests who are starting the journey to the temple early in the morning and in the process missing their complimentary breakfast for that particular day. We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. We began our journey to Vaishnodevi at 6 a.m. on the second day. So, we were supposed to get the packed breakfast on that day. This information we only came to know from the receptionist at the time of check-out. When we asked the receptionist as to why this information was not given to us at the time of check-in, he simply ignored us. He was the same guy who had checked us in. This got us a bit upset and we demanded to have a word with the Hotel Manager. He came and tried to apologise on behalf of the receptionist and offered us packed breakfast for our onward journey to Patnitop. We accepted his apology and got the packed breakfast. Till the very end the male receptionist was unapologetic. Very poor customer service from a brand like Ramada, I feel.
Overall, conveniently located and a comfortable stay in Katra. A bit on the expensive...
