Staying at The Nigeen Cottage has been one of our best travel experiences. We love living with locals, learning about their lives, tasting the cuisine of the land and the Nigeen Cottage experience helped us achieve just that. Shakila ji (the enterprising lady who runs this B&B), Riyaz ji (her husband who is full of knowledge and interesting conversations), and their house staff have been amazing hosts. We were treated with warmth, respect, and a lot of politeness.
Their house is built with attention to detail. It's got vintage and cosy wooden interiors. You can expect amenities like breakfast served in guest area, buzzer for calling staff up to your room (like room service calls), tidy room+bedding+linens, clean washrooms, etc.
Shakila ji even helped us with planning itineraries, special info about best places to eat, shop, etc. We even went with their empanelled Taxi service, which was a good decision as we didn't have to search elsewhere, and we got very good service owing to her reference.
If you are authentic travelers who care more about experience, crave for genuine conversations, authentic home food, and prefer living with with locals irrespective of the centrality of location - go ahead and book with The Nigeen Cottage. You'll not be...
Read moreThis was my first visit to Kashmir, and I could not have wished for a better welcome than what I received at The Cottage Nigeen during my one week stay. The cottage itself was tastefully done up, with a beautiful garden surrounding it, and was located in a quiet area of the posh Hazratbal area, a few minutes walk from Nigeen Lake. The warmth and genuine care of the owners and staff was beyond my expectation. They took care to make me feel as if it was my own home and prepared delicious home-cooked breakfast and dinner to my liking. My room on the loft had a beautiful view of the garden, Nigeen Lake and the mountains, and was centrally heated and very comfortable, with an en-suite bathroom with all modern fittings. If I visit Kashmir again, I will stay at The Cottage Nigeen and no where else. During check out, I could not transfer the balance of my room rent to the owner’s account, as my phone Sim was not working. The owners were so kind and trusting that they asked me to do the transfer after I reached home. This was hospitality if a superlative kind.|I will always have very fond memories of my stay at The...
Read moreWhen you enter this really narrow lane close to the Nigeen Lake, you might think you've made the wrong choice, but when the gates of Cottage Nigeen open to an expansive garden you actually forget you entered through this narrow lane in a secluded place. If you really want to enjoy the essence of Kashmir- think khatamband ceilings, Tall Chinar trees, magical flowers, soothing breeze, orchards- then you should stay in these Home stays. Cottage Nigeen has heritage rooms that have great views of a very beautiful garden, chinar trees and lush green lawns. The owners- Mrs Shakeela and caretakers- Tahira and MoArfat- are all very sweet. They looked really well after us. When you stay here, you feel peaceful and I would advice people to treat this place with the care and love it deserves. Rooms have toiletries, drinking water and heaters are provided. Bathroom has 24×7 hot water. The common Living room is vintage and spacious. Do have a meal in the covered sit out...
