We booked a premium AC double bed room which costs on the higher end among all rooms available here, but is average at best. (Acc to online sites, it was the most expensive room - this is important coz if the most expensive room faces these problems, imagine what the cheapest rooms will experience)
We were fascinated to see that our AC room in fact had an AC, however it's a shame it never worked over the 2 nights except for maybe 10 mins when they worked a makeshift fix (and then it stopped working again).
We also were blessed with the presence of an electric kettle, which gave us strong electric shocks, every time we touched it. When we informed the staff, they came with an electrician and were pretty chill about the fact that their main line got shorted (which basically means, multiple or all rooms were affected by this, and not just us - this was confirmed by the electrician). More than the fact there was an issue, it's their casual behaviour how multiple guests getting electric shocks is nothing to worry about, that we found concerning. Remember the shock was not a weak one and it could potentially kill a person if they held it long enough.
In our 3 days, 2 nights of stay, there was not a single room service done. When we asked for it, they were like "sorry it's a weekend, we are busy". I wished more of us had this level of work life balance.
There was a bathtub in the bathroom. The bathroom was pretty big, probably one of the positives of the room. BUT the bathtub never worked, coz the drainage block was broken (water could not be stored). At this point, we didn't even bother to report this coz the shower was working fine and we didn't book the room for its bathtub. But why even add something if you can't even maintain or check it regularly?
I think some 500 INR homestays will provide you better service than this.
Key point - The manager Mr. Mahabaleshwar was informed about the whole scenario and our discontent and he indirectly was trying to imply that we were lying about the "AC not working" part. I have added a picture of a staff trying to fix the AC as proof - which never got fixed btw. He had zero empathy about the whole thing and had the most casual approach one can expect from the manager of a supposedly 4+ rated accommodation. He had offered us to swap our rooms about 10-12 hours before our checkout time, almost like a formality - coz over 50+ hrs, they thought of this a few hrs before checkout.

Read moreThis is a place closest to the Kudle Beach. If you are looking for a decent place just beside the beach then go for this one. You don't have to spend time and money hiring taxis or autos to get to the beach. You can just walk to the beach in not more than 5 mins. This place has got small cottages and some 6 rooms in a 3 storey building. Stayed in the cottages as well as the room in the building. Cottages are definitely better- cute and romantic. They have 3 different kinds of cottages and tariffs are different for different cottages. There's this one cottage like a duplex and absolutely lovely. I have enclosed the pics. This is the most expensive cottage and there's only one of such kind. It can accommodate 4 adults. All cottages and rooms have attached bathrooms with basic toiletry supplies. The rooms have mosquito nets and insect repellents. Gokarna is a hot and humid place round the year. None of the cottages or rooms have Air conditioning and facilities are basic. This place is not meant for tourists looking at good properties to spend their vacation. It's for travelers looking for a break. They have a lovely breakfast area and serve fixed 3 different breakfast combos. No lunch or dinner is served here. But you can always walk upto the beach and have amazing food at the beach shacks. They run yoga classes in the morning for their guests. The hosts are foreigners and are very welcoming. Advise all who plan to stay here to carry mosquito repellent creams, coils, papers etc as this place is full of mosquitoes due to high humidity and the you have to keep the windows of your cottage or room open as there are no ACs. Overall our stay was a good experience. Little more information about Gokarna esp if you are visiting for the first time.. There are 4 beaches quite close to each other- Kudle, Om, Paradise and Half Moon. Kudle and Om Beach are reachable by road. Paradise and half moon beaches can be reached only by trekking from Om Beach or by...
Read morewe had booked this place because the place next door was full and after seeing some reviews here it felt like a risk however our experience was not bad at all on the contrary it was an excellent stay and i will list down the pros and cons of staying here in the below points. PROS - property is clean and well maintained , pool is superb , the upper rooms have a partial view of the beach , rooms were clean (but these were new rooms , there are some old rooms as well i am not sure how they are, the rooms i am talking of are near the parking and they are all good and higher ones have a view), they have a well functioning AC , gyser , TV , mini fridge, and we asked for extra towels they provided us with it immediately , the gatekeeper was friendly and welcoming. the MAIN pro of staying here was that we were allowed to check in at 9am and checkout at 1030am and the process was very simple and short. CONS - They don't have a good restaurant and whatever they have is not good, but there are great alternatives nearby, so that's not so much of a problem . "Half way home" is a lovely option hardly 400 mtrs from this place and kudle beach is walkable and there are very good lunch/dinner options there). OVERALL VERDICT - Great option for a stay ONLY if you plan to spend very little time in the hotel. if your main aim is to relax in the hotel and not go out anywhere this is not the place for you as their restaurant and room service is almost non existent. we spent 1 night here and will definitely come here again if we plan for a quick overnight stay...
