Better Inn — Hotel in Kerala

I stayed here along with my family for 5 nights in March 2023. I booked the hotel in advance using Holi discount in OYO app. Few points -

Location - This hotel is located in a decent location, with the nearest metro station well within 2km. Uber makes things much easier with door to door connectivity.

Hotel staff - Staff is polite in nature. They help with information whenever asked. They promptly gave their service whenever we had any difficulty.

Hygiene - The reception area, staircase and hallway are clean and tidy. Rooms are well maintained and clean. Bathrooms too are clean but I saw one or two cockroaches inside. Clean towels were provided with the rooms. Medicine soaps were provided.

Rooms - There are two size rooms here, one bigger than the other. Both of them are sufficient for 2 people. Rooms were tidy, had one double bed, one table and chair, a wardrobe, bedside table and a TV. All the rooms have proper lightning. Bed was of premium quality, very soft and comfortable. AC worked properly.

Security - The rooms were equipped with special OYO-SOS buttons in case of an emergency

Ventilation - Rooms are properly ventilated with a big window and bathrooms have small Ventilation fans to do the work.

Washroom - It was fitted with branded and premium quality equipments and everything worked fine. Size of the Bathroom is small, but it's manageable given the budget category of the hotel.

Parking space - Ample parking space is available for bikes and cars both.

Wifi - Wifi feature is available, however the actual download speed was very slow.

Other features - Food can be brought inside the hotels via zomato or other takeout option and consumed in a special common dining room in the ground floor. There are many small restaurants near the hotel and a few of them provide great breakfast options. There was fire escape stairs in the building, which is a rare sighting in a budget hotel, so that was also a big positive in the hotel.

Issues / potential improvements -

No elevator - We got our rooms booked in the 2nd floor. We were 5 people staying 5 nights, so one can imagine the quantity and weight of our luggage. Although, one of the helpers assisted us to take our luggage to 2nd floor via stairs but it was quite a task after 2 days of journey in the train.

Not disabled-friendly- Given the unavailability of elevator and no other option available for disabled folks to reach the rooms (which are in 1st and 2nd floor only) is a very big negative which the hotel management must improve upon.

Drinking water - Although there is a RO water facility in the backyard, the guests are not allowed to go alone there and the water bottle kept inside the hotel was almost always empty. We had to continuously remind the receptionist to refill it.

Rooms - Firstly, I had booked twin single bed rooms but got double-bed rooms as they were already occupied. In one of our rooms, there was no handle in the bathroom door because of which there was a small hole in the door. In the other room, exhaust was not working. TV set-top box was unplugged because of which there was no signal in the TV. AC remote was not provided in one of the rooms and we had to rely on direct switch or had to borrow the remote from theother room. However, due to my busy schedule I was unable to bring these problems to attention of the hotel staff, but I feel these points should be taken care of beforehand rather than to be solved after the customer complaints.

Noisy area - The hotel is situated near a mosque and azaan is played in mic here, so it's not totally quiet here most of the time.

I booked a room in oyo at karukappalli, kochi. The Hotel name is 16968 better inn. I booked a AC room.my booking id is JU3S2641.My check in date was date 31-10-2021. I reached the hotel at 6-30 pm. At the night 11-30 pm the AC was gone. We called the hotel staff. They told that it was a electric problame. We told them to change the room. They said there is no room left. We booked a AC room, but we get a non AC room. Check out time we said the issue to the office staffs. They behaved very badly to us. They said that 'it is not our problem, we can't do anything about the issue, we can't refund your money, you booked the room in oyo, you can complaint the issue to them'.
