We went as a group to spend the day there in the resort. The location is a beautiful resort by the sea. The resort as such is good. There's a lot to walk and it's full of trees and flowering plants.
The drive to the resort was an adventure in itself. Muddy, narrow roads and the bridge to the resort were a bit scary.
Once you enter the resort, it feels very different. The room allotted to us was a small one. It must have been a budget room. A single room with a double bed and a bathroom, near a conference hall.
We spent the day by the pool. Some of us played cricket, while others ventured out to explore the place. There's a yard with just coconut trees facing the sea. And connected to the restaurant, there's a building with games. It's a sorry state of affairs. You can play table tennis on the top floor and Carrom and chess below. The maintenance is very poor there. Seems like no one uses this space much. The chess board lacked a pawn and it's replaced with a plastic pawn. Just one piece.
Although the staff seemed friendly, there was some visible hostility in their behaviour towards us. Maybe, they do not like groups. But then, they're trained and paid to deal with all kinds of people right? The food was mediocre. Only the salads and desserts were good. We were all looking forward to having a good time in the pool, but they said they'll not be allowing anyone in the pool without Nylon swimwear. This was not mentioned in the brochure, nor conveyed to us. They said Nylon swim wear was available for sale by the pool. Those were just flimsy shirts for a very high price. So, some from the group, who had Nylon had fun in the pool while the others sat around it and watched them and the children have fun. I think that details regarding the swimwear should be added in the brochure of the resort and also conveted to groups in person to avoid conflicts and situations, since a lot of people don't know about it.
The trip to the Poovar beach was another issue that needs to be addressed. Since the ferry fees to the beach was paid in advance while booking the trip, we did know that the boatman would demand money from us to ferry us to the beach and from the beach. The guy demanded we pay Rs.100 for the trip to the beach in a boat for 7. We gave the money and then, after spending a good time at the beach, when we were about to take the boat back to the resort, he again demanded money. A person, who was one of the organisers of the tour, then told the boatman that we had already paid for the charge of the boat while booking the resort and wouldn't be paying him anymore. The guy argued with us and left us stranded on the beach. We asked other boatmen there if they would take us to the resort. They said that the boats were all controlled by Unions and they won't take us to the resort. Our friend then had to call the reception and talk to the resort people and they then talked to the boatman and he came back reluctantly to take us back to the resort. All through the trip that lasted maybe 5 minutes, he kept murmuring and argued again when the boat reached the middle of the backwater/estuary and it was very scary. This really spoiled the whole beach experience for us.
Back at the resort, it was tea time and the tea time was good, with a small stall near the restaurant and pool. Tea was good and so was the Pazhampori.
There was also a raindance place near the place, where they played some 3 or 4 songs for us to dance in it, for 20 mins. It was fun. We changed our clothes in the room we were provided and dashed out of the place by 7:30 in the evening. Except for the pool and boat incident and barring the subtle hostility of the staff towards us, the overall trip was good. I personally had a great time. It's a very photogenic place, pretty much well maintained. Maybe I'll come to stay here someday to see how that...
Read moreI am writing to share our experience following a recent family get-together at your resort, shortly after the Onam holidays. While we were looking forward to a relaxing and enjoyable stay, we were unfortunately quite disappointed with the overall service quality and staff behavior.
The most concerning observation was the lack of warmth and hospitality from the staff — a fundamental expectation in the hospitality industry. Throughout our stay, we hardly saw any pleasant or welcoming faces, which significantly impacted our overall experience.
Here are some of the key issues we encountered:
Unusual Delay During Check-in: Even though the booking was done already, the check-in process was unnecessarily prolonged, causing inconvenience to our entire group, including elders and children.
Full Payment Required at Check-in: We were asked to make the entire payment upfront at the time of check-in. This is not standard practice in most resorts we have stayed at and felt unwelcoming.
Poor Coordination for Boating Activity: While we were informed at check-in that boating to the beach would be arranged, there was no proper follow-up or coordination from the reception. Eventually, we had to arrange this on our own.
Tea/Snacks: Although tea and snacks were charged additionally, the availability was poor. Additionally, it was uncomfortable to be constantly watched by the some staff to take the count while accessing snacks, which felt intrusive and awkward.
Delay in Dinner Service: During dinner, we ordered just a scoop of ice cream, but even after 15 minutes, it was not served, and we had to cancel the order.
Lack of Accountability Among Staff: The most disappointing aspect was the apparent lack of accountability among the staff. No one seemed responsible, which led to a generally disorganized and impersonal experience.
It is evident that your resort has ample space and the necessary resources to offer a great experience. However, without significant improvement in staff behavior, hospitality standards, and service coordination, it will be difficult to reach the full potential. We hope you will take this feedback constructively and take the necessary steps to enhance the overall...
Read moreFirst thing first - This isn't a beach resort. There is no access to the beach from the resort. Booking.com needs to remove this information to avoid misleading people!
Well, we all know that first impression goes a long way. The road leading to the resort is narrow and terrible - Imagine reaching the resort in the dark so narrow and huge potholes and crevices. That experience itself killed all the excitement of a 4 star rated resort. Google claims it to be a 4-star hotel.
That claim proves wrong with the state of the resort. The resort has all the resources to make it right but just needs good maintenance and management. The rooms seem old and rustic, and the outside lawns need good trim and maintenance. The service was good, and the guys at the front desk were attentive.
Was excited to know that there was a play area with badminton, volleyball, cricket, table tennis, snooker, carrom, and chess. But that excitement didn't last a moment until I saw the condition of how the play area was kept. There were no fans provided, and these indoor games were just provided in the open with no cue stick or snooker balls. Carroms had missing coins. Badminton court was basically unplayable - I'll leave a snap here.
Food - Food was just average with nothing out of the extra ordinary for a 4-star resort. Unfortunately, you would not be able to go looking for a restaurant with such pathetic roads leading to the resort. And you'll end up being within the resort having a full board experience.
Beach and backwaters - Now, this is a big con that annoyed me the most. There is no access to the beach. Imagine you just sitting and watching a beach far away from the resort and will not be able to walk from the resort. The only way is to take boating on the backwaters.
Overall, the experience was inferior, below par!. Hopefully these genuine reviews will reflect on the google rating and the improvement on the state of the resort. I might know the response on this review ( if they managed to write one) would be that the resort is still under renovation!
I wouldn't personally recommend it ! There are better beach...
