Read moreBooked three rooms. It is a small resort. So on the positive side you have fewer restrictions and hassles. On the negative side you have fewer systems, personnel and conveniences. Felt more like a upgraded homestay rather than a resort. It is a relatively new property, hence the rooms, furnishings etc. seemed to be in good keep. The room and washroom size is average. The cleanliness of the washroom is a 7/10. The provate balcony is a pleasure and a convenience. Has room to park about 6-7 cars in the common yard. But getting vehicles out from between could turn into a hassle. Toiletries, blankets and drinking water were provided on request. Pros: Peaceful. Aesthetics is above average. Convenient location as far as waterways and access to boat rides is concerned. Affordable and pocket friendly Relatively new, good washroom fittings, furniture. Had no mosquito/bug problems while we were there. They have a separate dining area where they let you have food brought by you, and would provide cutlery. They also cook and arrange food, if you would tell them in advance. They have their own boats (2), which would be ready to take you on a 1.5 hour ride on the estuary. It is a nice experience. Has a pool. But it is very small (250 sqft approx) and 4-4.5 feet deep. Works for a family or two at a time. But would not have space for multiple guests at the same time. Ok for lesuirely goofing around, but not really for swimming.
Cons: Crow and ant problems for stuff kept on the balcony. Sparingly furnished rooms. No phone, kettle, hangars, tumblers etc. Vehicles of people coming for boat ride (but not staying at the place) is also parked in the common parking area. Complimentary Breakfast is very limited. Only one variety of any food they decide to make, along with tea. But then you should not expect much better from a small place as this. Slow and casual service, especially in the morning hours. Your request for morning tea would have to wait till the lady chef arrives at her time. Your request for morning tea would additionally have to wait till the guy designated to bring tea (lives nearby) decides it is time to show up. (The caretaker, who is a genuinely nice person and serious about service, would wait and tell them off once they arrive). Breakfast is also proportionately delayed, especially if you would want to dine in the room. I had to go around and turn on the corridor lights. No regular housekeeping. Upkeep and cleaning is not in safe hands. Apparently some of the rooms have a problem with the commode. The flush-out, gets stuck and develops a small blockade. It is a dirty problem to deal with. The caretaker attended to our issue and solved it for us.
I haven't stayed at any other places in the locale, so I would refrain from saying whether this place is recommendable. The beach is 2.8 km away by road and is a good one with lake on one side and ocean on the other. We have very few beaches...
Read moreI've stayed there with my family for 1 night and 1 day and it was a nice experience. The problem was we went on a Saturday, therefore all the rooms in the resort were booked. But luckily, there was a lodge like setup made specially for this purpose. If you are the kind of person who loses interest in the first look, then the lodge will not be a great idea, as there is a public gent's toilet at the entrance to the stairs leading up to the room. The toilet is there for people who avail boating services situated nearby. About the room itself, they weren't clean to begin with. We took 3 rooms and we found out the one room has a TV which doesn't work and all the rooms looked like they needed serious cleanup. But they did say they were understaffed coz of the pandemic. So that's a pass. All the rooms had attached toilets but 2 rooms had toilet which was just 5m square, really cramped and small. Fortunately, the toilets were clean. Every room had attached AC but if you want non-AC rooms, it is also there (No different rooms they just switch off the AC from the main switch in the office). Food is not available in the lodge itself and you'll have to travel 2 kms to Arabian Nights hotel for lunch and dinner. There is an option to deliver the food to the lodge and food takes typically 35-40 mins to get to the rooms. Food was decent and it's at an affordable price. Breakfast is not served there so you might have to go elsewhere for that. But one plus point of the lodge is the staff, as they were very polite and was always ready to help no matter the time. They were very friendly and ensured that we had the best experience possible. Another main attraction to this hotel is its boating service. It's a 1 ½ hour boating service which takes you through different locations in the neyyar River. I suggest doing it early morning before the outside tourists come. Prices vary with the seasons so keep that in mind too. The rooms are prices at 1800 per day (subject to change). Overall, it was a pleasant stay and I suggest you...
