Marari Praise Beach-front Homestay — Hotel in Kerala

The homestay is right on the beach affording you great views from the top floor rooms and balcony. As you look out from the balcony you get to see the vast expanse of the Arabian sea, you see fishermen bringing in their catch, kids playing football on the beach. Marari Praise resorts gives you a ring side seat to a sleepy, authentic fishing hamlet. With clean beaches stretching for miles; accessible just 10 feet from your room, the homestay has a great location. The rooms are huge and well maintained and cleaned on a regular basis. The Air-conditioning is powerful and we enjoyed a great siesta after a really wholesome lunch. Bathrooms were tidy, toiletries were sparse but additional clean towels were available at request. Food was served on the top floor balcony overlooking the beach. Would recommend you get a few beers to beat the humidity. The real star of this property is neither the stellar location nor the great rooms. I rarely write reviews but Marari Praise warranted one thanks to the family that runs it. Koshy and wife Rini along with their kids Praisy and Praise are some of the best hosts I have had the pleasure of staying with. They were ready to accommodate any of our requests. Often going out of their way to help us out. Like other reviewers have mentioned the hosts are amazingly patient with guest requests. I will recommend this place to friends and family just to experience the hospitality of the host family. Previously I had stayed in a chain resort nearby and the experience was ok. It was an experience that is sanitized and packaged to tick boxes. A version of Kerala that they think visitors will enjoy. Marari Praise on the other hand was the real Kerala: warm, authentic people...

No words can describe how special this place is! First & foremost the service prior to arriving from JiJi was excellent. He helped us with transport from previous accommodation to the Homestay. The service from JiJi and the family was wonderful. Always on hand but equally very discreet & were not intrusive.

The breakfast was delicious, fresh fruit, omelettes & toast & the option of Keralan style breakfast was great also! There's also meals to enjoy during the evening. Excellent food overall.

The rooms are basic but cleaned well & have everything you need for a comfortable stay. Spacious bathrooms, hot running water which is always a bonus & plenty of storage🙂 The front area is always being swept & maintained so everyone has a nice clean environment!

To the left and right of the beach there are lovely 'shack style' restaurants & cafes within walking distance.

Overall a very relaxing stay & a great place to simply watch the world go by & take in some local culture 🙂

Pros: Great view of the beach. Car accessible and parking space is available nearby. You could get a glimpse of the fishermen’s life, provided you wake up early. Clean and tidy room. Food is set on a table with a beach view. Walks on the beach at any time is possible due to the proximity. Police patrols on the weekend. There are a lot of dogs and cats around the property and on the beach. Hammocks and sun loungers are there to relax and read.

Cons: Rooms are expensive considering the amenities. No hot kettle - tea or coffee sachets in the room. No tv or telephone to reach the reception. Getting a hold of someone for tea and coffee was tiresome. The caretaker tried his best to accommodate the guests but I understand they are short staffed.
