My family and I recently had the pleasure of staying at Xandari Pearl Resort in Mararikulam, and it was an experience that surpassed our expectations in every way possible. From the moment we arrived until our departure, the resort and its staff left an indelible mark on our hearts, compelling me to share our journey with others who might be considering this beautiful haven for their next vacation.

###Arrival and First Impressions As soon as we arrived, we were greeted with warm smiles and a refreshing welcome drink that instantly made us feel at home. The resort's ambiance is a perfect blend of luxury and natural beauty, set against the backdrop of Mararikulam's stunning beaches. The lush greenery and the architectural elegance of the resort harmonize to create a tranquil paradise.

Accommodations Our villa was a marvel of comfort and privacy, adorned with tasteful décor that reflected the local culture while providing all the modern amenities we could ask for. The spaciousness allowed us and our children enough room to relax without feeling cramped. Our private garden and pool became a favourite spot for morning tea, enveloped by the soothing sounds of nature.

Culinary Experience Dining at Xandari Pearl was nothing short of a culinary journey. Each meal was a discovery of Kerala’s rich flavors, with dishes prepared from locally-sourced ingredients that highlighted the freshness and diversity of the region's cuisine. Xandari Pearl is a delightful place to spend a holiday. We stayed there for over a week in early March 2024 and highly recommend it.

The staff are very friendly and helpful, anxious to please at every opportunity and nothing is too much trouble. Thomas, always cheerful and kind, welcomed us at reception where we were given flower garlands to wear. The ever-smiling, friendly and sari-robed Manju helped us in endless practical ways, ensuring that our stay was as enjoyable as possible.

The restaurant is well run and has an amazing array of beautiful Indian and western food, served cheerfully by Shimlas, Mable, Devi and other efficient caring staff. Devi was particularly kind and made us a lovely special cake for our wedding anniversary!

The facilities at Xandari Pearl are great. We stayed in one of their delightful individual spacious bungalows (some with private plunge pools--we were upgraded one night!) Airconditioned, also with fan, and bathroom where the private shower is open to the air. Spacious wardrobes, tea and coffee making facilities, fridge with daily supplies of fresh drinking-water, fruit and chocolate! Among other great housekeeping staff, the smiling Mary kept everything spick and span! Each bungalow has a private garden with sun-loungers and some with plunge pools.

The grounds are extensive, lush with beautiful trees and bushes, full of enchanting birdsong, well-watered and tended by a whole team of friendly hardworking people. The gardener is particularly proud of his organic vegetable garden and rightly so as the produce is excellent and used in the kitchens. There is also an animal centre and a butterfly garden as well as an orchid centre to be visited.

There is a lovely peaceful shallow lake near Reception where guests can try paddle-boating and also a salt-water outdoor swimming pool with loungers and parasols. Guests can also lie out comfortably under the huge trees--and be served complimentary morning coffee and afternoon tea with treats!

A great feature of this resort is that it offers free early morning Yoga sessions 6 days a week at the beach. The Yoga teacher is friendly, helpful and a great example of inner serenity. There is also an excellent Ayurvedic Centre on the grounds. The Ayurvedic Doctor Sheetal is very kind and helpful with consultations and the massage treatments are wonderful. (One of them involves warm oil being poured on the forehead for about half an hour--bound to de-stress even the most uptight of us all!) Many thanks to the gifted Agnes for all the treatments so well delivered.

Probably the crowning plus of this resort is its beach-access (with lifeguard) and we enjoyed wonderful walks along the extensive sandy beach in the early evenings to enjoy spectacular sunsets.

My husband Dan and I were invited to plant a Guava tree in the resort and many of the staff were present for the ceremony. We dedicated the tree to our new baby grandson Oliver Boland Flynn. We hope that when he is older he will visit Xandari Pearl to see how this tree has grown. In the meantime, we extend our heartfelt thanks to Manju and all the staff for a memorable stay and wish you every success with your delightful enterprise.

It was a delight to see the animals up close and learn more about their role in the resort's ecosystem. Our children were especially thrilled to interact with the animals, making it a memorable experience for the entire family.
