Full disclosure: This review is more about poor service than food. We arrived around 18:00, I asked if the kitchen was open for dinner, to which I was told yes. We were the only people there, and we got sat under the strings of lights on the beach (very picturesque around dusk). We ordered our drinks and food reasonably promptly, 4 people in total, but didn't receive all our meals until 2 HOURS LATER! I was really hungry when I arrived, and at the 1.5 hour mark I told the guy (who seated us) I wanted to cancel my order because I needed to get to bed early for travel and didn't want to eat a large meal close to bed. He apologised for the delay, saying that the chef had some an appointment to attend (which he could have stated when we sat down), then continued to say I couldn't cancel because it would be ready within 10 minutes. Of course, it was another 30 minutes before the food came out. I was so annoyed with the situation that I wasn't focusing on the food by the time it arrived, but my companions said their meals were pretty good. I don't know if the chef was late to work and the guy was making excuses, or if something had really come up, but I would have preferred some honestly that things might take a while, and we should expect to wait a bit. Please be more upfront with your customers in the future. Expectation management goes a long way.
I ordered the red snapper cooked in a banana leaf, a little more rubbery than tender and flaky, but...
Read moreBeen there in March 2024 with my girlfriend. We had an extremely positive experience, in fact we came back there every night as long as we were in Marari. Fresh fish at an enchanting beach. Not crowded at all, although these particular reastaurants at the beach are mostly frequented by tourists and not by locals. Super friendly staff. The food was delicious and economic, given the quality of it. I recommend the Nirvana which is a fried fish with curry. Possibly the best dish I had in my 1-month vacation in India. The drinks are also good. Only note I have to make is that there are a lot of wild dogs roaming around the beach, so I would recommend going somewhere else if you are afraid of dogs. They can be annoying, but they are not dangerous. It is sufficient to shout and wave at them and they will go away. Very good time and very good memries. I hope I will be able to go back to...
Read moreWe are quite disappointed with this beach restaurant. The chicken soup was watery and lacked flavor. Fresh juices were served with ice, even though we weren’t asked if we wanted it. The Russian salad was terribly over-salted and made with ingredients that have nothing in common with the actual recipe. On top of that, we waited over an hour for it to be served because they had no mayonnaise.
If you'd like, here's a recipe for Russian salad that you can easily prepare with ingredients available in Kerala: Potatoes (boiled, diced) Carrots (boiled, diced) Eggs (hard-boiled, diced) Pickled cucumbers (or fresh cucumbers with lemon juice) Chicken or Crab meat (cooked, shredded) Green peas (boiled) Mayonnaise Salt and black pepper
I hope this feedback helps the restaurant improve its dishes and services...
