We visited in October 2023 based on our memories when this was a Taj property.
The new owners have added grandeur and opulence in the entry area. The. Rooms are almost the same as before. Didn't experience the pool etc.
However, they seriously lack in service. The staff have tension/ stress on their faces even though the hotel was empty when we visited. Both the checkin and check out was done by the same gentleman who was anything but pleasant. The madhya pradesh tourism motels have far more warmth than here.
The restaurant staff was another disaster. We ordered a garlic naan - and the waiter got back with plain naan. We said please replace it. He said you ordered this - so eat it. Then he had another idea as proposed by his boss - let's put garlic on it and it will taste the same. We didn't like this idea also and grudgingly a new garlic naan was brought for us. At the end asked for the bill and it mentioned the plain naan which we didn't order and didn't eat. They all started arguing that you had ordered for it. After my anger show they accepted to remove it. Of course that didn't happen so easily as the staff was not authorised to remove it. They called a senior member to authorise the same. This took atleast two hours. Whew!
Next morning at the breakfast they gave us a menu from which we could order - and it clearly mentioned that one fruit per guest !!!
We simply ran from this opulent property never to come back.
What can the staff do without empowerment from the owners. Feel sad...
Read moreDuring my one-night stay at Hotel Chandela in Khajuraho, I had an extremely unpleasant experience. Despite the hotel having a pleasant ambiance, their hospitality and services were lacking. Initially, I was given a room on the ground floor where two single beds were joined to form a queen bed, making it uncomfortable. Upon complaining to the reception, they relocated me to a room on the first floor. However, upon entering, I found the room to be excessively hot, and despite the staff turning on the centralized AC and assuring me it would cool down in 10-15 minutes, the temperature remained at 29 degrees even after waiting for 30 minutes. I lodged another complaint with the reception, and an AC mechanic was sent to my room. Although he attempted to repair the AC, it still didn't work properly, and he advised me to change the room.
I was then moved to another room, but unfortunately, the same issue persisted. This process of shifting from one room to another took an extensive amount of time and was quite tiring, starting from 9:30 PM and lasting until 11:30 PM. Consequently, we spent the entire night without AC, enduring the intense heat and suffocation in the room.
During checkout the next morning, when I returned the key to the reception, one of the staff members informed me that the AC plant had not been switched on, and that was the reason for the problem in all the rooms.
The experience was truly distressing as the unbearable heat and non-functional AC made our stay incredibly...
Read more"naam bade or darshan chote". recently visited chandela after hearing a lot about their ambience etc..they have a beautiful lobby and restaurant but average rooms...they are selling the chandela vouchers which is a good initiative but then treating customers as if the customer wants to stay for free and they are doing some ehsaan by giving us the coupons. Twin beds are provided for couple rooms and when u ask for double bed rooms they add the two single beds for u and make it a double bed and claim that this is all what they have...
Pathetic and tasteless food. The waiters are not able to understand the order, and they don't write it ...captains think that they are the supreme and no say is given to the poor customer...breakfast spread is a mood spoiler for nonveg eaters as they just serve eggs only as an option... Deserts were so bad in quality that it does not even match the level of what the hotel is charging... It has attracted foot fall via coupon selling and now not willing to serve them well.. Not to forget the reception staff was not...
