Normally we prefer homestays to hotels, but Kadakh Greens is such a cozy, friendly and relaxed place, it feels like one of our top homestays. The owner, Dorje-la, is friendly, kind and has made so many helpful suggestions. He also got our Protected Area Permit for travel in the more restricted areas, and has given us valuable advice on travel in the more remote areas.
All the staff are friendly and helpful. Kunal particularly took the trouble to make sure we had good breakfasts 😊. Housekeeping service has been excellent, and it feels great to come back to the room after being out all day.
The garden is a real joy. Sitting outside and enjoying the wind in the trees, the clouds constantly changing, the birds calling, and the lovely flowers, makes us feel so happy.
We didn’t take full advantage of the food service, as we tend to have our evening meal quite early, but other guests did have dinner here, and it always looked and smelled delicious. Portions are generous. Vegetables come from the hotel’s own adjacent vegetable garden.
We have stayed here for 11 nights and plan to return after we do some touring outside Leh. At this point, I would not even bother to try another hotel — we just feel so...
Read moreWe stayed here multiple times during our holiday in Ladakh and always had a very good stay. The rooms are nice, clean, spacious enough, comfortable beds and the studio rooms even have a balcony - and all of that for a very reasonable price. The staff and host were very friendly and welcoming and helped us out with everything we needed, from laundry, to luggage storage, a drop-off to the main market and even a brush to clean our dirty shoes. After hiking in the cold, we were so glad to come back here, since the heating and hot water work properly. Even though we could not make use of it due to bad weather, the garden is really lovely and a big advantaged compared to other accomodations which do not provide an outdoor area.
Given the high number of hotels in Leh, we were a bit overwhelmed when deciding where to stay. We were glad we chose Ladakh Greens and would come back again. Highly recommended!
One little recommendation from my side is to install screens against insects on the windows, as there are a lot of insects (little flies, nothing to worry about; however, there are a lot of them lying on the...
Read moreThe manager is kind and tries to help, but that’s where the positives end. The staff is clueless and doesn’t speak English, making communication frustrating.||||The rooms are filthy and clearly haven’t been cleaned in a long time. The first was swarming with insects; the second had fewer bugs but was still dirty. The third was the least dirty, but still unacceptable.||||After an hour of cleaning, the room was still far from a satisfactory standard. I lost patience after three hours and moved to another hotel. It wasn’t until I found a homestay that I finally had the clean environment essential for enjoying my stay.||||The hotel and rooms reeked of an unpleasant odor. Opening the balcony door was the only option, despite being warned about insects. I chose bugs over the stench.||||The hotel is about a 15-minute walk from the market, and the view from my room was nice, but that’s hardly enough to make up...
