Be prepared to switch on your torches because hotels don't think it's important to lit the place at night if it's not fully occupied. Next, the room... Incompatible furniture in room that occupy 90% of the area leaving no space to walk without banging into something. Space to keep your luggage allows only one suitcase. Not that the view is promising, but you can't open the window, because mosquitoes... Our room had a bath tub, which was the only good thing about it. Moving to the so called complementary breakfast... Now, I have experienced a lot of breakfast buffets in my small life, but never have I ever tasted such horrible food for buffet. Omelet made in stale oil with pan's black polish is an abomination! Bread pakoda, poori that can squeeze out enough oil to fry 2 more pieces each. No south indian variety in 2days, poha had tandoori flavored capsicum, chola that tasted of sour curd... WHAT EVEN!!! And all this not even ready till 9 when the buffet closes by 10:30. Thanks to the unpalatable food, we got upset stomach for 2 days... In addition, if you think food in general might be better, dont even bother. We ordered dal chawal and grilled chicken for dinner on the day we arrived, but God knows that those pieces of chicken were drier than the coal pieces on which they were grilled. That dal... The chef should go back to the culinary school before serving that! And lastly, "best part" of our stay... The service!!! So, before arriving, I spoke with reservation team and asked if they can arrange an oxygen cylinder. They said yes, and that the team on reception will "assist". Which they did, they asked upon my arrival if I need the cylinder immediately and I asked to keep it on standby if needed. After a few hours, I asked and the hotel staff did send a mini cylinder to my room, told me how to use it and left. 1 day later, we had to checkout and after completing all the formalities, the guy standing at the reception said, that I am suppose to pay Rs. 2500 for the cylinder. Now, hear me out... I was coming from Hunder and the hotel their provided the cylinder at no cost. While I understand that this cannot be a standard practice for all hotels, but if a product or service is chargeable, is the hotel staff not expected to inform the guest in advance or at any point during the stay? If you are charging the entire re-fill price than you are obligated to show me that it was full when I received and thatI will be charged accordingly? So, from reservation guy, to the receptionist and then later the hotel staff, no one said a word and at the last moment, right before leaving, you expect me to pay an anonymous amount because I had a flight to catch? I understand that services are not provided for free at any hotel, but if the hotel can take pains to print a damn price chart for a 20rs lays packet and charge it at 100, then they better have the price for an oxygen cylinder mentioned somewhere! In a 30mins conversation, even after asking 10-15times for providing me with a document where the price is mentioned, the team couldn't come up with a SINGLE FREAKING DOCUMENT and kept saying, "Let us talk to our manager" who btw, was a door away and didn't even have the courtesy to talk to us. When I said that I would like to make a videoof all this, the guy at reception bluntly said, "Madam meine aap se koi badtameezi nahi ki hai"... AS IF!!! And that this is the price for refilling an oxygen cylinder in Leh. I pointed out that even in covid times, in a city like Delhi with a severe oxygen crunch didn't charge that much for a full medical grade cylinder than how come it's so expensive here. And if that's the case, share a proof with me. To which he conveniently didn't reply. After wasting my 30mins, he made me pay half the amount, i.e. Rs. 1250, without providing any proof of the price and a sorry face saying, that after discussing with the reservation team, we will refund your money which was like a month back! Now, they can keep the money, but take this review very seriously, coz I rarely write such...
Read moreMy family decided to visit Ladakh during the peak of its tourist season in August, 2021. Since we were late to the game, we faced challenges to find hotels or an all inclusive package in Ladakh. We were about to abandon all hopes when the pro-active staff at The Indus Valley (TIV) came to our rescue. TIV was able to offer us an all-inclusive package within days of our request with hotels stays in Leh, Nubra Valley and Pangong Lake with a dedicated driver and car at our disposal. We were excited to embark on our journey, which had been long overdue due to the pandemic.
As we arrived at the cosy property of TIV, we were greeted by a fair, light-eyed security guard who looked nothing short of a movie star. TIV had a beautiful outside lawn with free flowing water falls and a seating area to enable its guests to enjoy the pleasant weather. Dazie (receptionist) welcomed us in with refreshing beverages and showed us to our well-maintained rooms which comprised of all modern-day necessities (smart TVs, heater, quality toiletries, etc). Our first day in Ladakh was intended for acclimatization so we spent a considerable amount of time in our rooms. The room service was very quick and the staff was very hospitable. The rooms had a few flies in the evening (which seemed to be a prevalent problem in the vicinity) however the staff was quick to offer solutions and get rid of the problem.
Our package also included breakfast and dinner at the hotel which is recommended in the absence of dining options in the area. Chef Pawan and his team were very accommodating of our specific food requests. After 2 relaxing days at TIV, we were on our way to Nubra Valley and Pangong Lake.
We were celebrating a birthday upon our return to TIV for our last day in Ladakh. We had requested the staff to arrange a small cake if possible. However the staff and chef team went above and beyond and gave us a memorable celebration complete with a delicious Black Forest cake, balloons and flowers on a privately set table. We were beyond elated by the hospitality shown and the proactive attitude of the TIV staff.
Overall what the hotel lacked in infrastructure was more than made up for with unparalleled hospitality and a can-do behavior. We would recommend TIV to anyone who is looking for a stress-free experience coupled with close proximity to the Leh market.
Well down to the entire TIV team for making our Ladakh trip an...

After booking the flight to Leh, being a Marriott rewards member I started searching for a Marriott property. I was disappointed not to find any.
Ended up doing a bit of research on other hotels before homing on to The Indus Valley (TIV) hotel. In retrospect, I am super delighted that there was no Marriott property in Leh.
My wife and I stayed here for 6 days in June 2024 and loved every moment of our stay at this property. Right from my experience in booking the room until our departure time, everything that the TIV staff did, was saturated in hospitality, hospitality and hospitality.
After booking online, I had some questions which were not only promptly answered via email, but the front desk team member - Stanzin Palkit - also sent a text via phone and also called me directly to resolve any queries that I may have had. This is called going above & beyond with a customer.
Check-in was smooth with warm smiles. We enjoyed the welcome "kawa" - spiced hot tea. Balbeet - the concierge/bell boy - was prompt in escorting us to our room.
The front desk team that we encountered (for various reasons) over the course of our entire stay - Sonam Stensing, Tani, Rigzing and also Palkit - all were super helpful.
TIV has a great bar (Tribes), where Rohit always welcomed us with a smile, while preparing our beverage of choice.
Their onsite restaurant (Silk Route) gives a cozy feeling. The restaurant staff - Stewardesses Yangchan Sherpa & Carien Rai, Exec Chef Harendar Bhat with his team of three other chefs and Narender (Nick aka Captain) - always made us feel at home, whenever we stopped by for a quick breakfast or a late dinner. The food prepared was always awesome and the staff was always ready to serve us with a smile. We also observed other guests being demanding / difficult but they always served with a smile!
All in all it was a wonderful experience. TIV hotel's staff members take pride in their work and are extremely customer service oriented. They were always ready to look after our comfort proactively.
The property is also conveniently located close to The Leh market (8 - 10 mins walking distance), which has a good selection of local restaurants.
We will definitely be staying at The Indus Valley hotel, the next time we visit Leh! Thank...
