NEST by Lemongrass — Hotel in Maharashtra

I recently stayed at Nest in Kudal for a night and was initially impressed by the hotel’s stylish design and ambience.

However, my overall experience was unfortunately overshadowed by a significant issue with the booking and customer service that I feel compelled to share as a warning to fellow travelers.

I checked in late at around 10 PM, where a staff member named Soham ( his name was given to me upon enquiry, by the morning staff) assisted me. He offered a competitive rate for a two-night stay, but only collected payment for one night, assuring me that the remaining payment would be settled the following day. However, the next morning, after breakfast, I was unexpectedly asked to vacate the Khandwa category room. When I explained that I had booked for two nights, I was informed that the room category I had reserved was sold out and had been allocated to another guest.

Despite presenting my booking details and having a local friend who accompanied me at check-in to corroborate my account, the hotel staff insisted that my reservation was only for one night. They offered me a lower-category room as an alternative, which I declined due to the inconvenience and lack of transparency.

This experience left me deeply disappointed and concerned about the professionalism and integrity of the hotel’s staff. While the property itself is well-designed and aesthetically pleasing, the service fell far short of the warm hospitality one expects, especially in this region.

I decided not to extend my stay and moved to another property. I share this review to caution travelers to verify their bookings thoroughly and to be wary of potential discrepancies...

We selected this hotel for 2 reasons - proximity to the Mumbai Goa highway and a high percentage of good reviews. However, our experience was very poor and left us very disappointed. We arrived at the hotel at 7 pm after a long drive from Mumbai. Surprisingly, the rooms were not ready. After we showed them the booking, they asked us to wait at the reception and sent their housekeeping staff to clean the room. The reception waiting area is too small to accommodate more than 2 guests. We were 3 of us and one of us had to stand for 15 minutes. Our room, Khandya Aangan was spacious enough to accommodate 3 beds. But it was basic at best.

There is no restaurant in the property premises. We had to order dinner from their restaurant in the sister property located 800 metres away. The food was very ordinary and the fish that was served was not fresh but frozen. The breakfast next morning was the biggest disappointment. They have a daily menu which is just 1 veg dish and 1 non veg dish. For veg on a Thursday morning, they serve amboli and chutney. We were informed that the same would be coming from their sister restaurant. We were also offered the option of taking breakfast by visiting this sister restaurant. Since we wanted to eat freshly made amboli we decided to walk to the restaurant (we were informed by the staff that it is 300 metres. They lied as the actual distance is more than 800 metres). To our disappointment again, they served cold amboli. It was a worse start to our morning.

We were happy to check out and leave, never to come back to ever stay in...

Stayed at this location twice in 8 months. Serene cottage nestled amidst a lot of greenery, feels like you are staying in a resort somewhere deep in the woods, yet the location is a mere 5 min away from Mumbai Goa Expressway. Rooms are very clean, comfortable, feature attractively rustic design elements with all modern conveniences. There is a convenience store/bakery nearby that stocks up on packaged snacks and baked goods, but we did not see any restaurants within walking distance. But this property is serviced by a kitchen/dining area just a few steps away and operated by a very dedicated, accomodating, and customer focused couple. Food (BF/L/D) reflects Malvani cuisine and is super fresh and delicious. 5 Stars for this alone! Both veg and non-veg options are available. The front office staff, as well as support staff are very professional and super responsive, and go out of their way to ensure guest needs are promptly attended to, and taken care of. Top notch service. This property is a good base camp if you would like to explore the Kudal region and interiors. Make sure you hire a car. Highly recommended and will...
