Updated Rating/Review as per my latest experience - I went on a normal night where the staff wasn't there, there was just a guy to take orders and pick the dishes too. He could not manage it efficiently. The owner wasn't available and there were his friends who sat on the reception chairs. We ordered butter roti and paneer matar. To our surprise the sabzi came all salted - the gravy was stale and it was just mixed with the paneer and matar. The man got all 6 plain roti together, I mean who serves everything in one go? Upon telling the butter roti the server didn't communicate well and asked the chef to remake butter roti and the sabzi was supposed to be fixed. However again the 6 butter Roti's were served together. The sabzi came in a plate without a single Paneer so we just pay for the thick red colored gravy full of salt? We were like why say it again but by this time we were tired and ordered other sabzi which was again so okayish that anyone could make at home a dry gobi and potato sabzi which they call kurma. Kurma isn't dry and yellow. It's usually thick gravy and full of sabzi. Later we ordered plain rice for which no sabzi was left as they exchanged and the quantity shrunk. Overall worst experience ever as the guys never apologized for the mistake but later when we spoke they reduced the charges and then we spoke and the issue was resolved. However we felt really bad for the experience and the food quality.
I've reduced the rating based on experience and the after effects. Never in my life I puked after a meal and this was worse when I started coughing and eventually puked the whole food.
This restaurant is like a good joint where they serve pure veg breakfast an lunch dishes. Located on NH 66, Mumbai - Goa Hwy it is quite easily accessible to tourists as well. I've been to this place for quite sometime now and must say totally love the options here.
Things I recommend - Masala Dosa (not a fan of the sambhar though, it could be better and feels too oily and okayish for my taste), Plain Dosa, Idli (love the red chutney), Uttapam, Pav Bhaaji, and Tea.
I've even tried their Potoba Vada that is actually a huge vada cut in between and they add imli, green chutney and garnish that with thin shev. And even their American Shevpuri. They are good but please check the taste accordingly as during monsoons curd might taste a little sour and in our case we felt the same and informed the manager here. They took the feedback and told us will look into the matter. However, in this case, I feel he should have said let me check and tasted that and offered something else as complimentary as there are two dishes that felt unusual in taste. Unusual as in sour, soggy, and little spoilt. Now, I could say this because we've tasted the above two dishes before as well hence we could make out the change instantly. Anyways about the ambience, it is basically open air restaurant with ample cool breeze but now they have packed the place due to peak monsoons. Service is good and various food options. They don't serve Dosa or fermtented products after 12pm. They usually offer pav bhaaji, sandwiches and lunch. Evening again they serve dosa so ensure to visit them for breakfast or evening snacks. I've not tasted the Thali but they...
Read moreLet me preface this by saying I've had better meals in a roadside ditch. My experience was less a dining occasion and more a descent into a poorly managed, spice-addled nightmare.
I ordered the palak paneer, a butter naan, and the veg kolhapuri. The waiter, bless his heart, seemed to have the comprehension skills of a goldfish, grasping only half of my order. I confirmed, twice, the availability of the palak paneer, only to be subjected to a 75-minute wait for a dish that, it turned out, didn't even exist.
The veg kolhapuri, when it finally arrived, was an unholy concoction of pure, unadulterated spice. It was so fiery it obliterated any semblance of actual flavor. My taste buds are still recovering. The naan, at least, arrived in a timely manner, a lone beacon of mediocrity in a sea of culinary incompetence.
While I waited an eternity for my missing palak paneer, no one – not a waiter, not a manager, no one – bothered to check on my table. I had to flag down the original waiter, who initially ignored me in favor of a larger, presumably more lucrative, group. When I finally got someone's attention, I was informed that the palak paneer order was "never placed." A full hour and fifteen minutes, wasted.
Then came the grand finale: the palak paneer was, in fact, "unavailable." This revelation was followed by a farcical display of your staff playing the blame game. I begrudgingly ordered the paneer mutter, which was, unsurprisingly, disgusting. And when I requested an additional naan to salvage what little dignity remained in this meal, I was presented with a roti, accompanied by the ludicrous excuse that your "oven had gone cold." As someone with restaurant experience, the notion that a restaurant of any size would use separate ovens for naan and roti is laughable. You clearly just pawned off whatever scrap was lying around.
I came in with an appetite and left with a profound sense of regret and a still-empty stomach. This establishment is a scam, plain and simple. Your staff is unprofessional, untrained, and utterly devoid of basic hospitality and humility. If you're looking for a decent meal, do yourself a favor and find a street vendor. You'll get better service and more edible food. I sincerely hope this place closes soon. You don't deserve to be...
Read moreWorst ever experience at Potoba, Kudal. Absolutely pathetic service. I waited 45 minutes for a dosa and what I finally got was half-cooked and inedible. The kitchen had nearly ten people roaming around but only one person was serving and cleaning — completely unhygienic and disorganized. They are quick to add items to your bill but slow and careless when it comes to actual service. I had gone for breakfast and left disappointed and frustrated, without eating anything properly. This place seriously needs to rethink its priorities. Avoid at all costs — visit only if you want to waste your time...
