A Disastrous Stay. I recently had the misfortune of staying at 'The Umrao' hotel, and I must say it was an absolutely dreadful experience. I feel compelled to share my ordeal to prevent others from falling into the same trap. Despite its claims of luxury and sophistication, this hotel failed to meet even the most basic standards of hospitality. Here are the numerous issues that plagued my stay, which were particularly challenging while traveling with a small child: 1. Lack of Responsiveness: Prior to my arrival, I had specifically requested a baby crib both in advance and on the day before. Shockingly, upon reaching the room, the crib was nowhere to be found. Despite numerous inquiries, the staff failed to address this simple request. Their promises to bring it "as soon as possible" proved to be nothing more than empty words. Traveling with a small child already presents its own set of challenges, and the hotel's lack of responsiveness only added to the difficulty. 2. Unpleasant Environment: As I made my way through the corridors, I was greeted by an overwhelming stench of sweat. The entire area felt stuffy, dingy, and severely neglected. It was evident that the management lacked basic cleanliness standards, making the experience truly repulsive. Trying to navigate through these unpleasant conditions with a child in tow made the situation even more taxing. 3. Room of Discontent: Stepping into my assigned room, I was immediately met with an offensive odor reminiscent of a hospital room. The lack of proper ventilation only exacerbated the problem. The room felt suffocating and far from the promised luxury experience. Providing a comfortable environment for my child became an arduous task, as the conditions were far from conducive to a pleasant stay. 4. Neglected Infrastructure: Upon closer inspection, I discovered severe issues with the room's infrastructure. The walls showed signs of seepage, with cracks and delamination evident in several places. It was evident that the management had neglected any form of maintenance, causing further discomfort and raising concerns about the overall safety of the premises. The stress of dealing with such deteriorated conditions while tending to the needs of a small child was truly overwhelming. 5. Dismal Washroom Experience: The washroom proved to be a nightmare. The absence of hot water was simply unacceptable for a hotel of this caliber. To add insult to injury, the shower knob was broken, rendering it unusable. Furthermore, there was no floor mat for hygiene purposes, and the sink failed to drain water effectively. The result was a stagnant pool of water that created an unsanitary environment. Trying to manage the hygiene and comfort of my child without basic facilities proved to be an added challenge that I did not anticipate. Considering the exorbitant prices charged by 'The Umrao,' one would expect an exceptional experience comparable to the finest 5-star hotels in India. Unfortunately, my stay was far from it. The hotel's utter disregard for basic guest needs and comfort is inexcusable, and their claims of luxury and sophistication are nothing but a facade. I strongly advise potential guests to steer clear of 'The Umrao' hotel unless they wish to endure a nightmare of an experience, especially if they are traveling with small children. Save your hard-earned money and choose a reputable hotel that actually values its guests' satisfaction and provides a conducive environment for a comfortable stay.

Stayed here for a quick overnight business trip. Reminder to Company - never book this place again. The entrance is grand and ostentatious and builds expectations. And then things start to go pear shaped. Rooms are OK but nothing special. They haven't seen a refurb in a while. TV didn't work. Went for a shower, no shower gel or shampoo in the dispensers. Asked for it to be filled up 3 times - no one bothered. Asked for the TV to be fixed twice. No one bothered. Went out for dinner and came back and the no turn down service or refreshed towels. Bed was comfortable to be fair but woke up and went down for breakfast. What a disaster. 3 guests including me but zero service. Buffet was varied but only if you enjoy Asian and Indian Breakfast. Not a tea pot in sight and no OJ. And if you wanted bacon, you have to explain to the Chef what it is and then wait 15 minutes for it to be cooked and then served with burnt scrambled eggs. Went to check out and not a manager in sight - they only start work at 0930am. All in all a super disappointing experience. Won't be coming back.

Booked this hotel for close proximity to airport (within 15 min distance) for catching early morning flight. Pros: Close proximity to airport, Udyog Vihar, Ambience Mall; Ample of space to host large scale events, very nice swimming pool, ground floor rooms have attached bathtub outside, Very large valet parking, seamless checkin. Cons: The facility specially rooms, furniture & bathrooms are showing signs of ageing, need better caretaking, hot water supply takes ages to resume (leads to water wastage), Buffet is more expensive than that of Westin or Marriott properties, Food served in Thyme is average (Veg biryani no way matched to its original flavour), No Membership points accumulation, Access to Pool is closed after 9 pm (it’s a bummer) so you have to take evening stroll outside the hotel, Pricing on higher side. Tips: have a lot of scope to improve.

I don't know where to start. I called 11am on Feb 12th and spoke to the manager (Gulshan) and was told I can get a room for 9,440 including tax and breakfast. I was ready to pay with my credit card but was told I cannot pay with credit card over phone. Gulshan said he would hold my room for that rate and I could pay with my card when I arrive in the evening. I arrived with my mother- who just got off a 19 hour plane ride. We patiently waited for an hour because the room was being "sanitized." When the room was finally ready and I was going to pay, I was told that the room would cost 10,000 with tax. While we were resolving this price issue, another customer cake down and was upset because she had been waiting for 30 minutes. I knew right there and then that we weren't the only customers facing issues with this hotel. When we requested two keys, we were told they usually don't do 2 keys but they will give it. After waiting 5 minutes, we requested what was delay for key & the front desk girl blatantly lied and said she never said she would give me another key. We finally got to the room and realised it smelled like cigarettes and the room was very dirty. The employee helping us admitted that this was a non smoking room but a customer recently smoked here and that's why it was being thoroughly "sanitized." My mother has asthma and cannot stand cigarette smell. I picked up the phone to complain and surprise, suprise, the phone didn't work in the room. I asked the gentleman helping us to provide a wifi password. He called the front desk lady to ask for password and she provided the wrong one. He ran down and got us the wifi password. We decided at that point, we must leave the hotel. We took our bags downstairs ourselves and wanted a refund. The front desk employees did not know how to process a refund and needed their equally dumb and incompetent manager to do it. As we were leaving, another room magically becomes available. I was initially told that I was given the last room. Then I told the manager to give us ride to a different hotel. He said the driver wasn't available. There was a large suv parked in front of the hotel and he couldn't provide a single employee to drive us 5 minutes away. I told him I had spent enough money on Uber and he should order my uber. While waiting for our uber, he finally asks us if we want water. He could've easily gotten us dinner form the restaurant inside the hotel. But no! When the uber dropped us off at the new hotel, the driver demanded his fare. I told him that Gulshan already paid. He showed me his app and it was clear that Gulshan put in that cash would be given. 200 rupees is nothing to me but it's the principal. This cheap and lazy manager could've even spare 200 rupees after giving the worst customer service ofy life. 4 star luxury hotel?!! Yeah right! Save your money and go to Crown Plaza!!! Gulshan, quit your job please. You suck and your front desk employees. Harsh was the only employee concerned got us and...
