Although this is only a 2-star hotel, I think those looking for a bargain might rate it a 5. The rooms are very basic but clean and comfortable and very affordable. An unexpected delight was that they also have lovely little balconies. Ours overlooked an attractive flowered wall. The street is fairly quiet, as it's off the main roads.
The bed arrangement was 2 twin beds pushed together to make a double bed but easily pulled apart. I always wonder why all hotels don't do beds this way to accommodate both couples and friends. There was also a safe in the armadio and free wifi.
Although the hotel has no real restaurant, there is a little kitchen from which complimentary breakfast is served in an open-air lobby with 4 dining tables and a front area with comfortable chairs and several small tables built around polished tree slabs. In the lobby is an interesting stained glass mural depicting some of Pune's places of interest.
That mural, the unique open-space lobby, the older style of architecture, and the little balconies in the rooms made me ask about the hotel's history from the gentleman at the desk. He told me that a family has owned it for 3 generations, something I found charming. Nowadays it's hard to find such places, as hotels are increasingly gobbled up by large chains. In fact, the man said, the Bhooshan had at one point become part of the OYO chain but reverted to private ownership because of policies the family took issue with.
I found this a mark of the owners' commitment to service to guests. This impression was reinforced by the special care we got from the man at the desk at breakfast, who -- when he realized I wouldn't be having toast because they had only white bread -- immediately sent one of the work staff out to buy a loaf of brown for me! He also showed dismay to learn I'd been given a towel with a stain and rip the previous night, though I had easily gotten it replaced, and he promised to reprimand the staff member.
The only "minuses" I found at the Bhooshan is that there is no lift, which would be an issue for guests with a disability. Also some of the guests -- who seem to be mostly business men -- seemed a little more casual than I'd have preferred, leaving their room door open or walking around in shorts. But I never felt unsafe, especially as my room wss on the 1st floor directly above the front desk.
I will definitely keep the Bhooshan in mind to recommend to others from out of town when they...
Read moreA great place especially for some evil companies who wish to provide stay to their employees at the lowest possible rate. Nevertheless low prices does not mean bad service. Stayed at this places several times when was working with one such employer. However the experience was definately great. The place is a little away from main road which provides some seclusion and it's surrounded by trees. So it gives a feel of nature even though it's not very realistic. Its more of a home stay sort with places to relax on the ground floor. Have a morning cup of tea and relax and read the newspaper. We even interviewed candidates at this place. Rooms are not big so okay for single person but definitely not for more. Great foods joints are close by and so is nice street food. For great Mumbai style south indian breakfast you just need to step out and cross the main road. For dinner with great prawn fries just cross the JM road and walk about 5 mins. And can enjoy a good evening walk (takes about 15...
Read moreI travelled solo for work and stayed at this hotel for 2 days. Rooms- got a basic room with two single beds(I joined it and used it as a double). The bed and comforter were clean.
Location-its are quite near to 2 main roads and have good parking space. I chose Ose because my workplace was a walking distance.
Ambience- The dining and reception area is clean and peaceful.
Food- I have opted for a complimentary breakfast. On both days they had 3 options(idli, poha, sandwich) and tea/coffee. The options were limited but the food was tasty.
What I liked- Safety(especially travelling as a solo woman I prefer no one is too nosey), breakfast, clean room and bathroom, especially for the price. The proprietor is polite and the location is awesome
What I don't like- The room has no kettle for tea but I can understand it's not a big deal for the price. Plus, the complementary breakfast and tea was great. The rug was dirty so I had to move with a wet feel...
