This is our very favourite place in whole of Udaipur and it has a lot of reasons for it. Before I begin I must mention that we have stayed in this property on 8-10 times over the period of last 10 years. Every stay here had something new to discover about this place and it one of those very few rustic but comfortable resorts that offer a blend of natural beauty and luxury wipe varied categories of travelers. Weather one is looking for a transit stay place or a quite staycation where you want to offload city life stress. As the name suggests it use to be the hunting ground for the royals of Udaipur in the past which now has transformed into local wildlife promotion & preservation area.
It offers huge open area around a natural lake and is wide spread to offer Co living for both humans and animals.. it has a professionally managed stud farm, goat farm , a private airport and plane hanger of the maharaja’s personal aircrafts , huge lake along with a limited but sufficient no of cozy rooms and suites.
It’s amazing to see a dears, peacocks and langoos (monkey) who equally inhabit this place as home.
The management here looks after these dears and peacocks and feed them twice daily and that’s the reason the animals can be watched up close .
We love to bring our city dwelling children to observe these animals in their free natural space. Apart from dear, horses, monkey, peacocks, goats, there are pet guinea pigs, roosters, squirrels and turkeys.
Food is yummy and staff is very good. They ensure to take special care of all the guests.
We have landed at this place on occasions at midnight but staff has always ensure quick prompt service and would give them full credit for it.
Rooms are very quite and peaceful and are build around one side of the lake. This give an option for the tired travellers to catch up on their rest and sleep without being bothered of any ongoing events or parties at the hotel.
Rooms are unique and rustic and are build in with environment friendly way with all facilities like air conditioning, heaters, spacious bathrooms and comfortable beds. Room service is fast and good even when the hotel is huge and the kitchen is far from rooms.
We enjoy the privacy we get at this place as unless one would want to be part you have option to keep yourself out of the overcrowded hustles usually at tourist hotels.
This place is apt for travellers who are driving between Mumbai and Delhi just like us as it’s exactly midway in the trip. We always ensure to purposely stay here for a min of two nights to enjoy this place best.
I recommend this place for busy families with children to come and stay and give yourself and your young kids to have an unforgettable rustic experience.
And don’t forget to feed the dears with your very own hands to realise that these animals reciprocate so well to the kindness and love shown to them that sometimes even we humans don’t .
Thanks to the management and staff of Shikarbadi. Keep up the...
Read moreI wouldn’t recommend this place. We had to leave before we had a chance to even get our room keys. This hotel is very irresponsible. They don’t even bother to inform NRI’s about the needed documents on their website such as passport, drivers license etc etc. When we got their we found out that we need our OCI’s and with us. We had our passports and Drivers licenses ready but they weren’t willing to take that. They claimed “We need your OCI information so we can inform the CID within an hour about you and your NRI status.” Like who works that fast in India? It’s also not like the CID in India is there to check every hour “Oh we got a new NRI in so so resort.” Also, what would they do if we were here on Visa’s instead of OCIs? Would they still need it to “send to the CID within an hour.” We had a family member with us who lives in India and had their information such as Aadhar card and other important documents. We asked them just to simply transfer the reservation name to theirs since they have their information. They told us NO. You’d think they would understand and agree to negotiate since we had 3 little kids with us but they refused to help out. We also directly talked to the manager for a refund since we decided to just leave but he gave us a rather rude response and told us to talk to our travel agent for the refund instead of working out a solution. I wouldn’t recommend this place since just trying to get in is a pain so imagine how bad it is just staying there. We hopefully will get our refund back and if we don’t then this hotel is incredibly stingy and not...
Read moreMy family & I stayed at Shikarbadi hotel for three days in April & it was nothing short of a wonderful experience. The hotel is extremely well appointed. High end bathrooms, with good water pressure. Comfortable beds & furniture. Flat screen TVs with a plethora of western viewing options... . the facility itself does not disappoint.
Especially Front office staff was very active and kind to every guest as we see they give us express check in and the best hospitality we expected
Many thanks to Mr Yash pratap who care us till check out
Not to mention the location. Shikarbadi hotel is in the Udaipur (Beautiful Town). While more a neighborhood than town, it is beautiful indeed. Separated from city (keeping the traffic noise at bay), Shikarbadi has several parks (one directly across the street) to fill one's need for open green space & fresh air. And have very beautiful attraction like to see the Deers , peacock and many animals
Speaking of eateries, Shikarbadi also provides a delicious breakfast featuring a wide variety of options each day. Room Service is also available & equally delicious. If you find it easier to control your young children at a table, the dining room is also available at any time.
All of these things are truly excellent, but they all pale in comparison to the SERVICE. The staff at Shikarbadi may well be the most accommodating I've ever known. In fact, I signed up for TripAdvisor for the sole purpose of praising the Shikarbadi staff. Every request, no matter how small, was handled with a level courtesy & attention that...
