Green Tara Homestay & Service Apartment — Hotel in Sikkim

Had a 4-day stay here in late Oct 2019. First off, great host. Neat, clean, reasonably spacious twin-room plus kitchenette suite. Tiny washroom though. Large capacity hot water geyser partially compensates. Quiet location on a narrow street. Steep upsloping road, about one and a half km, to the main shopping/walking street (MG Road). About 120-150 INR one-way by taxi (hill station prices!) though the cab drivers will start at 250-300 INR. Cab drivers will invariably get lost; quote name of another hotel 50m away as reference. Healthier people can actually ‘walk it’. Occasional power failures, partial recovery by UPS backup. Breakfast and dinner available on prior notice, under ‘no other option’ circumstances. Provision store owned by proprietor at ground level for packaged eats etc. Rooms at II Floor; not much of a view from the room window or balcony in front; but not too cluttered either. Host freely allows use of his personal V Floor balcony to get a view out to the distant valley in front. A constant background noise of a stream gushing downhill right next to the property will be distracting/bothersome for a day or so. One gets used to it thereafter. No idea of room heating facility (not needed at time of visit). Too many windows and ventilators may complicate ‘room heat retention’. Bill payment may be done by UPI. No provision of credit card payment. Host will help with cab booking for daily excursions, if needed. Host will respond on messaging apps when not...

This is a cozy homestay for 4 people. This homestay had small house with two bed rooms, one kitchen and one bath. It had all the basic amenities in the house including utensils, gas for cooking. Required things in the bath. Place looks neat and clean and everything was maintained very well. Sanjay (Owner) and Mona Aunty (Care taker) ensured whatever we asked for we get it. Care taker also prepared morning breakfast for us which we had to pay extra for. ||We could hear the constant flow of water as the house was located right next to rain water drain but after sometime we got adjusted to it. This place is 2 Kilometres from MG Marg and house is located downhill. There is no way we could walk this stretch from MG Marg due to the distance and incline. However, there are taxis available to this place at Rs. 150. There is not much parking place for this homestay. But that was not really problem for us since we had hired the taxi for siteseeing it was not always stationed near the homestay.||Overall, our stay here was nice...

We had a wonderful time in green tara homestay in December 2019. Best ever! Home away from home!.

Sanjay and his family are very friendly and lovely people.

We loved everything about this homestay. Comfortable bed, spotless bathroom and amazing and tasty home cooked food. The rooms are beautifully decorated and cozy.

A Small shop is attached to this homestay lobby where you can get all sort of eatables, stationery things, gift items..

Location of the home stay is very good and you will get nice view in the morning from balcony.

If I ever come to Gangtok,Sikkim I will stay there only.Love the place..
