The Megapode resort , though government owned far exceeded our expectations. The room was very good and we had bamboo cottages which was clean, well kept and housekeeping was intact. Very much accessible to all major travel needs, it was a big plus. Being in the center of the city, it had a breathtaking sea view, excellent green space and felt like a haven !||If there is one thing to improve, it is the packed breakfast. Being Indians, a few slices of untoasted bread with cheese, cookies and juice doesn’t suit the tongue. We were also unaware , since there was no communication about this. Our travel itinerary was such that we were out of the resort on 4 out of 5 days. In such cases, the breakfast should either be removed in the room cost / a meaningful breakfast should be packed - like parathas, idlis, chapathis etc that can be savored by Indian guests.||When this issue was noticed in our 1st 2 days of stay, we raised it to the hotel management and Mr. Dilly Raj immediately came to our help. He went out of the way to ensure that on one of the days, we had hot , soft and yummy idlis, chutney, sambar and tea served to us at 6:30 AM well in time for our travel. He also had his team help up with toasted bread, jam, fruits for the day we were heading out to the airport. He was personally present in the hotel to ensure that we as customers were satisfied and it made our day ! ||We also requested for shift in rooms to enable 3 rooms to stay together and this was also very well ensured. |The pillows and beds were the highlight for our kids and they even skipped a day’s itinerary to enjoy their sleep in the comfortable rooms !|One of our children was unwell , but we were off to a day long trip to Baratang Island leaving the child in the room. Mr. Dilly Raj enabled to procure medicines and provided a hassle free service so we could enjoy the trip ! Thanks to such a service minded person who helped enhance our experience at Andaman. ||Overall, the customer service, customer satisfaction ensured by Dilly Raj’s leadership along with his team made our stay highly satisfying and we will highly recommend the place and the service forward. If there is an opportunity to visit Port Blair once again, we will surely come back to the resort . ||Minor feedback for further improvements|1. In one of the Bamboo cottages the latches and door needs to be set right|2. Access/Subscription to the entertainment channels in some rooms was not working|3. Wifi was not available in the rooms and it can be improved, though it is fun to have the family together without wifi :) |4. Health faucets in the left (Generally inconvenient for right...
Read moreWe stayed at Megapode Resort for 3 nights, 1 night in semi-deluxe room and 2 nights in Nicobari Cottage.|First I will write down the common good and bad aspects of the resorts and then tell about the rooms.||The good points|1. The hotel is at calm place so there wont be much outside noise to disturb you.|2. It is located near haddo jetty so catching Makruzz is easy, you can reach at the jetty in 10 mins.|3. The drinking water is good, tastes similar to mumbai water|4. The hotel is located on a height so you get the view of the pheonix jetty and the bay from the resort|5. The check-in and checkout is smooth.|6. The rooms quality is good.|7. The resort is well maintained and there is a lot of greenery around.||The average/bad points|1. The bathing water in semi-deluxe room though good but was on slightly yellow side, we did not see this issue in Nicobari cottage.|2. The bathroom size is good but the shower area is small in both semi deluxe and Nicobari Cottage.|3. The hotel food is average in terms of vegeterian food, not sure about non-veg though, you will get food that will fill your stomach but it wont be lip smacking tasty, you will have to go out for tasty veg food.||Semi-Deluxe Room|The room was good, good bed, balcony and overall cleanliness. We did not opt for room service so not sure how it is. The only issue we faced was slightly yellow water but the water was not hard and was good for bathing. The only difference between Semi-Deluxe rooms and Deluxe rooms is that from the outside courtyard of the room you can get view of the bay.||Nicobari Cottage|There is a catch here, things are not exactly as shown. We booked nicobari cottage for ourselves from mmt and images show that it is an independent cottage and has bathtub but it is not 100% true, we had confirmed images again on the official website before booking. They have only 4 Nicobari Cottages. 2 Nicobari Cottages are independent villas without bathtub and other 2 Nicobari Cottages are joint and have 1 big wall common between them and balconies nearby each other with less privacy, these have bathtubs.|They allot rooms randomly so you cant demand the type of Nicobari cottage you want.|We were given Nicobari Cottage room 101, the complaint I have regarding it is, the switches are are placed randomly. Like one light switch of bathroom is somewhere in living room and vice-verca. Was it just our room? not sure but this is not how it should...
Read moreMegapode Resort is a government-owned property operated through a private partnership, and I had a very pleasant stay here with my family of three. Here are my impressions:
Pros: Spectacular Location: The highlight of this resort is undoubtedly its breathtaking location. The sea view from the Deluxe Rooms and Nicobari Cottages is simply stunning—perfect for soaking in the natural beauty of Port Blair or strolling in the resort's spacious layout among lush greenery. Excellent Value for Money: Compared to other premium hotels like the ITC Welcome (which charges nearly three times the rate), Megapode offers a far superior location and an overall great deal. Courteous and Helpful Staff: The staff here were consistently polite, friendly, and eager to assist. Their warm hospitality made our stay even more enjoyable. In-Room Comforts: Apart from basic amenities, only tea/coffee facilities were provided, but the staff gladly replenished supplies multiple times—unlike many hotels where such requests are met with hesitation.
Cons: Unless you are more concerned about interior decoration or frills in a room, there are no cons. Basic Interiors: The rooms, particularly the Deluxe category, have a no-frills design with traditional wooden paneling reminiscent of a government guest house. Personally, I found it charming and functional, as I prioritize utility over luxury décor. Limited Room Amenities: Deluxe rooms do not have a refrigerator or clothes iron, which could be a minor inconvenience for some guests. I wish all hotels in the Andaman Islands would provide in-room ironing facilities, given the humid climate and how easily clothes get wet & creased. Final Thoughts: Overall, I was genuinely impressed by the Megapode Resort. It offers a tranquil setting, unbeatable views, and warm service—all at a very reasonable price. While it may not have all the bells and whistles of a luxury hotel, it more than makes up for it with its location and heartwarming hospitality. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful, scenic stay...
