Truly an outstanding experience for us. A refreshing break from the dirt and pollution of Delhi we couldn't have asked for anything better. Simple , homely stay with no opulence to mar the ideal retreat one is looking for. Though simple, you can't miss the intelligent and thoughtful interiors, homely cleanliness and the balconies being an absolute winner with the lazy hammocks and non intruding seating to spend your mornings and evenings. With no TV, one almost hears the silence and tranquillity. You can't help but rise early morning and mingle with nature with some yoga and aerobics. Surprisingly kids had a great time playing and inventing games we thought had been long forgotten in the deafening din of the TV and modern gadgetry. Time moved at a leisurely pace and we felt after a long time that we were living the way we should. We must mention the absolutely friendly and charming staff who almost became family in matter of days. Food ( Vegan) was sumptuous and amazingly tasty just like home. The restaurant was a treat in the midst of the trees with soothing wind chimes and even some friendly pets snuggling around playfully. We must mention the manager Sai who was always keen to help , the ever smiling Shanthi with magical cooking skills and Lakshmi the housekeeper who tirelessly cleaned up the muck created by two growing boys. Illiaraja our tamil speaking driver(only Tamil) had an endearing personality who somehow managed to communicate with us. Located on the periphery of Auroville in fact it is a part of it and just 5 minutes walk from the Auroville Info center. A very smart book store being run by a Frenchman just next door is a great pastime. A cloth store with hand painted sarees and scarves is located adjacent to the guest house gave us a very unique experience of great artistry. All in all a wonderful stay we would love to replicate...
Read moreI had come here with my friends once and it was really nice. This time I wanted to take my husband to Auroville and show him this space too. First of all we booked a suite and they gave us a very small room with nothing in it. the bathroom was leaking, there was no power in the night, they purposely gave us the wrong room as they had given our suite to expats (we are locals) before we reached. This is pure colonial hangover. Very sickening. There was no drinking water, towels or toiletries. Wifi did not work at all. We went out and purposely came back late to this place as we did not know what to do there without power, wifi or any other amenities. They used to have a functional kitchen and that was also closed this time. I still spoke very softly to the only guy over there...Lokesh or someone...I don't remember the name properly now. I genuinely asked him if he thought what we got is fair. He had an apologetic face and said that he was sorry as the management changef and renovation was going on and most rooms are not functional. The swimming pool had thick alage floating on it. He said that they had already informed Agoda, Make my trip and few other sites to update the information that they are renovating. Apparently all the other sites updated it except Make my trip, as stated by him. Because of that we went there without knowing. I don't know whether to believe this, but all I can say for sure is, he did not want to try and make anything better for us, not even a bit with whatever capacity he had. He didn't mean his apology. Because of that one horrible night stay, our next morning was bad. We woke up sleep deprived and annoyed and dint want to go around Auroville as we planned. So we packed and left that town and came home. This was the most disappointing and exhausting outdoor stay I...
Read moreInitially looks lovely and the pool is pretty. |Nice gardens. ||The rooms.. Overpriced and overrated. My neighbors room was damp with mouldy smell...it was sandwiched between 2 rooms no window so no vemtilation. She was given a discount but i wouldnt gave stayed in that room with the damp.. ||My room... I had a double room on the end that was nice but very small compared to other auroville guesthouses. ||The probkem... It had a bathroom that connected to the next bathroom with a kind of concrete open window above eye level. Hence i could hear all my neighbors toilet noises (!) talking and everything. It was pretty unpleasant. ||The owner kindly moved me to a more expensive room that was quiet and quite nice (but very dark and had a rubbish tip outside the window.) |But... The wifi didnt connect there. Nor for the person in another room at back block of pricier rooms. ||I needed wifi so said id leave as they said... there was no more they could do for me. ||The owner was initially very nice then turned very nasty.. Obnoxious. He said i had to oay the vast percentage of my booking as id booked thru booking.com...their cancellation policy. After my final compkaint he told me i was wasting him and his staffs time and was arrogant and rude to me... . || For the price one pays it should not be as my experience. In many trips to auroville thus was my worst guesthouse experience. ||There are better auroville guesthouses... ||I was there in auroville for some healing and had booked Greens as id heard it was good. In my opinion sadly...
