"Complaint Regarding Horrific Experience at Wilderness Lakeside Resort Vikarabad"||Wilderness Retreat & Campside all owned by the same Reddy Family from Hyderabad||||I am writing to express my extreme disappointment and trauma caused by my recent stay from August 15th to 17th, 2024.||1. Unexpected Presence of Dangerous Dogs: - Upon arrival on Thursday afternoon, we were shocked to discover that the resort houses four large dogs—two Pit Bulls and two English Mastiffs. As a pet-friendly resort, I had brought my four-and-a-half-year-old Boxer. The front desk reassured us that the dogs would always remain in their enclosures, but this assurance did little to ease our concerns.||2. Substandard Accommodation/ Run Down : - Our room, priced at nearly INR 9,000 per night, was far below expectations. It was poorly maintained, with yellow stains on the commode and holes in the mosquito nets. We were bitten brutally by these mosquitoes and spent both nights up killing them with our bare hands.||3. Uninspiring Dining Experience: - The resort's restaurant offered a very limited and standard menu. There were no special options or children’s menu despite being a family resort.||4. Lack of Activities for Children: - Before booking, I was assured that there would be numerous activities available for children, including rope walking, games, ATV rides, boat rides but these are restricted to adults over 18 years old; the rope walk, was poorly managed. We waited for over an hour on Thursday for someone to assist us, but no one showed up.||5. Poor Staff Service: - The staff, including the manager, lacked professionalism and customer service skills. Communication was difficult as most staff members spoke only Hindi, and they appeared disorganized and inattentive. The housekeeping staff wore shabby and dirty clothing, further lowering the overall experience.||6. Brutal Dog Attack: - On Saturday, the day of our checkout; while strolling with my daughter and our dog, we noticed that only the Pit Bulls were in their enclosure, while the two Bull Mastiffs were roaming freely. - The Mastiffs aggressively attacked our Boxer, causing severe injuries. Despite my dog being on a leash, the Mastiffs mauled him brutally. My daughter and I were terrified, fearing for our dog’s life as he screamed in pain. - It took several resort staff members to finally pull the Mastiffs away, but not before my dog was left bleeding and traumatized.||7. Inadequate Response from Management: - After the attack, a local vet was called, arriving an hour later to treat my dog. My dog underwent surgery, receiving multiple stitches, and has since been in significant pain, with a high temperature and loss of appetite. - The resort staff’s response was disgraceful. When presented with a food bill of INR 6,000, they offered a meager INR 2,000 discount as if that could compensate for the physical, emotional, and mental trauma my daughter, my dog, and I experienced. - The resort manager, Mr. Binay, and the owner (who was said to be out of the country) have shown no empathy or responsibility. Despite my repeated requests, I have not received any apology or follow-up from the management.||I wrote to the owner on WhatsApp, and he hasn't said a WORD||8. Severe Negligence and Lack of Accountability: - The incident could have been far worse, potentially involving my daughter or other children at the resort. It is unacceptable that such dangerous dogs were allowed to roam freely in a resort full of families and pets. - The lack of professionalism, safety, and customer care is appalling and warrants immediate action. Given the severity of this incident, I plan to lodge an FIR and seek compensation for the trauma and injuries suffered. The management’s negligence and the resort’s overall poor standards need to be addressed to prevent such incidents from happening to others. I expect a prompt response and a detailed explanation of how you plan to compensate for the damage caused.||NEVER EVER STEP YOUR FOOT IN...
Read moreUPDATE: We went to TWR again after 3 years and found that maintenance and care have really gone down in this time, which is sad for a property which is still relatively new. I have brought it down from 3 to 2 stars. We stayed in the Periyar cabins. While it was clean enough, the toilets and the condition of the whole interior was underwhelming and looked really worn out. On top of that, we faced issues with water and geyser throughout our stay of 2 nights. It was clear that they hadn't done the basic check of whether everything was working before our check-in. We had to repeatedly call them to get the water supply issue fixed. And the upper cabin didn't have its geyser working, because of which our parents had to come downstairs and take a bath every time. This was especially frustrating since we had raised this issue from the beginning and even on the 2nd day by 7:30pm they were yet to check it and when they did, they found that the entire unit had to be changed which would take time. Since we didn't want workers inside throughout, we finally told them that they could change it the next day after our checkout. It was more or less the same experience we had with the jacuzzi and overall service the last time too, which we had already pointed out below in our previous feedback. The food was excellent and the restaurant service good, which was a plus and the Wi-Fi was working. However, the upkeep of the place is really a downvote from our side. We stayed in the Gir Suite, and the stay was pretty much peaceful and calm. The whole property is pretty big and as the name suggests has the feel and calm of wilderness, although it is right in the middle of a busy area. You will enjoy walking around, lazing around or you can go for the bicycles that they provide to ride around. There is a go-karting zone for those interested. In terms of maintenance and service though, I feel they could do a better job. Quite a number of times, even for basic requirements like towels or floor mats, we had to repeatedly call them, once even for two hours. The Wi-Fi wasn't working for the entire 4 nights and 5 days we stayed there. Cell phone network is very low and they do not have landline phones to call the reception or place meal orders. So we had to make calls over WhatsApp and to do that we had to use Wi-Fi from our own dongle. The huge TVs in both the rooms had only very limited South Indian channels and one Sports channel, not even some basic English movie channels to relax with when it was raining outside. They said we could log in to Netflix or Amazon Prime since it was a smart TV; but how they expected us to do that with the Wi-Fi that never worked, I don't know. The TV remote was also not working despite us complaining and them changing it. So the TV was of no use. Even the Jacuzzi was not working when we wanted to use it on the second or third day and since it was outdoors where it kept raining, the small roof over it hardly helped in keeping it clean. The first time they tried to help fix it, they couldn't, despite spending half an hour or more there, and so we got to use it only once on the last day of our stay. That was disappointing because it was part of the whole Gir Suite package that we paid for. And although we didn't mind it too much, the bed and the doors creaked very loudly and we had to be extra careful of that after our kids slept. I think that is something they can easily fix only if they are a little more attentive of the maintenance. Cleaning was fine and the meal service was decent enough. There is no laundry service available here, just in case you are looking for one. One thing we had to keep repeating a lot was asking the service staff to wear their masks when they came over. We faced an issue with a DJ night and loud partying that went on till around 2 or so in the morning from one of the...
Read moreI visited Wilderness Retreat with my husband on Saturday 07th August. We booked one night stay. The location is good filled with trees and very scenic but the property is not at all maintained. When you reach the property there is no one to greet your or welcome you on their property just one guy who takes you to your room directly. We booked Bandipur cabin which costed us INR 5600. When you pay such a huge amount for one night stay you expect the place to be a little spacious and tidy. Being from hospitality + Travel industry I know whatever reviews you read are not all true so after reading google reviews which were not so good, we still thought that we will enjoy our stay no matter what.
Issues that we faced are as follows. Maybe this review will help others who are planning on staying here.
1- Room size is extremely small.
2- Toilet+ Bathroom is so tiny that when you take a shower there is no space to even move your hands
3- Shower head was fully clogged. They have not cleaned it at all. You will get hot shower but the water coming out from shower is very less and if you increase the speed of water, it hits you like sharp needles. Same thing was with the jet spray.
4- The bed is not king size it's a queen size bed. Mattress is spring one which goes completely inside when you sit or sleep on it. Pillows are super thin. If your partner turns at night or even moves a little the whole mattress shake. Hence you won't be able to sleep properly at all.
5- We both are in our 20's and we ended up having worst body ache and headache the next morning.
6- The cabin right beside our cabin was playing loud music at 2 am due to which again you won't be able to sleep. This same thing is mentioned in other reviews as well.
7- Also when you turn on the Ac it makes the whole wall vibrate because of which the headboard of bed vibrates too.
8- We ordered Indian food for lunch and Dinner. It is ridiculously expensive. If you order Non – Vegetarian food there is really less quantity of chicken. So, we thought maybe we ordered a wrong item maybe in some other dish the quantity might differ so we asked Mr. Shiva whose number was given to us for ordering any food/ room service. He is a very blunt man he simply said all food items will contain less amount of chicken / really small pieces of chicken. All food items are starting from INR 400 + taxes extra. Food taste is good but not worth the money they are charging.
9- Carry a mosquito repellent because they give coil and odomos but no stand for coil . Plus, it's such a tiny cabin if you light a coil the room will be filled with poisonous smoke + it’s a fire hazard. It would have been better if they provided All out or goodnight machine.
10- In evening we thought of sitting on deck and enjoy the evening but the fan they have on deck rotates anti clock wise so you won't get any air.
11- Hotel said that Mashaal is complementary and you can light it in evening so we tried to light it but they had not cleaned it from previous guest visit. Hence, we were unable to light that.
12- Staff is not at all curious. Everyone is quite blunt and hospitality is not good.
THE ONLY GOOD THING WAS COMPLEMENTARY BREAKFAST.
All in all, was not the greatest experience after spending so much money.
I would suggest you to rather stay at Hyatt or Radisson. Its gonna cost same and at least you will get better...
