Went in with a lot of expectations of the Marriott standard being a Marriott Managed Property and me being a Titanium Elite Member, however the property failed on most expectations.
Check In - Points to the property for a swift check in, however that was the only good part about the check in process. No information provided about the hotel, restaurant timing, breakfast timing, etc.
Lounge - Unlike other Fairfields in India I have stayed at, this property does not provide lounge access / benefits. Seems Franchised properties are a leg up in this space.
Room - We were upgraded to their Deluxe Guest Room with the Valley View. The view from the room was quite good, however overall the room was quite small for what is being advertised as the first 5 star hotel of Dehradun. Avoid room 524, it is bang opposite to their supplies room and you’ll be up since 6 am as they get supplies in and out from there! Ended up using the hand shower, as there was no water pressure in my room for the overhead shower.
Dining - While the hotel description says they have 3 restaurants, we could only find 1 restaurant- Pano and a Tea lounge on the lobby floor. We enjoyed ala carte meals that we had at Pano, however the biggest low light of the 3 night stay was the Breakfast service.
Almost identical breakfast menu daily with just poori and bhatura interchanged, and an indian desert being changed. However the worst part was the quality of food being served. Extremely thick bhaturas, tea with tea leaves or overcooked eggs, it seemed like the chefs don’t care what is being served in a complimentary morning buffet. I would recommend skipping breakfast at the hotel altogether even if you are staying here and its part of your room, plenty of good eateries are available at a 5 minute drive. You may try Musee Art cafe, ama cafe or eltham bakery that we tried during our trip. The worst part was the attempts made by the sous chef to provide us with better breakfast were in vain as it didn’t seem like he was really seeing if the redone dishes being served were being prepared properly or not. Theres a small local restaurant just a minute’s walk away outside the hotel, even they serve a better tea to help start your day properly if you need good tea in the morning like i do.
Service - One of the poorest service standards I have come across any Marriott property. Upon sharing a detailed feedback on the breakfast, there were no greetings, apologies, or acknowledgment. Received a call from the sous chef asking what was the issue with the breakfast showing that internal communications don’t even exist between the front office and the kitchen to even forward a written feedback between one another. I believe it is the first time in over 5 years that neither any management (fom, gm, rooms head, anyone at all) has greeted or made an acquaintance or even left their contact card over a 3 day stay where one may have even attempted to salvage the experience for me during the stay at the property. Upon check out, had requested for my bags to be brought down as I went for breakfast to ensure I’m able to leave timely for my further travels, but surprisingly, 45 minutes later while checking out, see that the staff are looking at each others’ faces as to why they haven’t even been sent for. Overall I would not recommend this property for your stay at the price point and the level of hospitality that they are able to offer. It isn’t worth staying here just for the view, and if you must, the Hyatt offers the same mussoorie views not far from this property but with unmatched...
Read moreMy stay at this hotel was absolutely horrendous. I can't stress enough how disappointing the experience was.
1.) The staff seemed utterly confused throughout our stay. Despite multiple calls, they couldn't confirm room availability with valley views, and they constantly mixed up our requests for twin beds with king size beds. It was beyond frustrating.
2.) The hospitality was pathetic. No one even offered us water or a drink during check-in. The staff's incompetence was astounding, taking an eternity to understand basic questions.
3.) After arriving in our room, we were served stale and tough pastries. Cold water bottles were absent, and requesting them was an exercise in frustration due to the snail-paced service. They didn’t even had the basic foam pillows available, which we normally get in a Marriot property.
4.) Breakfast was an absolute disaster. The food was terrible, service excruciatingly slow, despite the fact that restaurant was nearly empty. The limited menu offered, nothing genuinely good food close to Marriott's standard was served. Even the bakery items were stale and greasy and had soggy texture to them. The worst breakfast which was served in a very long experience of mine .
5.) The small, poorly designed bathroom left us with a soaking wet floor after every shower.
6.) Service was painfully slow. We had to request towels twice in the morning, and during checkout, we waited for 30 minutes for assistance with our luggage even after calling for multiple time’s . At the end we ourselves left the room and went to the reception and then the send someone for the luggage.
7.) To top it off, when we asked specifically for chilled water bottles upon departure, we were handed room-temperature ones. The excuse? "These are the only ones available." Seriously, Marriott? It felt like all their refrigerators were broken.
8.) As we were running late during our departure, it seemed the hotel staff were more interested in securing their reviews rather than respecting our time. We politely informed them that we would leave reviews online once we received the necessary emails, but they continued to insist on immediate reviews.
9.) Even after a full day since our checkout, we had yet to receive our electronic bill for the stay, a matter I had to remind them about. What's more, they neglected to request complete information concerning my Bonvoy membership, including my email, to connect my booking to my account for membership points and billing. When I contacted the hotel to address this issue, they asserted that I didn't possess a membership. However, it's worth highlighting that their inability to confirm this was due to their failure to initially request my email for linking my booking to my membership, despite my later provision of that information. Unfortunately, even after providing my email, they still didn't rectify the situation. To make matters worse, during the call regarding the billing issue and account linking, the staff member displayed a shocking level of ignorance, interrupting and disputing me while I was speaking and exhibiting extremely rude behavior.
In short, this was the WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE ,I've ever had. I wouldn't recommend staying here to my...
