Not Worth the Hype – Disappointed with My Stay

I recently stayed at “Hotel Jain Regency” in Mussoorie, and honestly, it was a letdown. First of all, it’s not really a hotel – it’s more like a homestay. The fancy photos and glowing reviews online are quite misleading. My trip organizer told me it was a 3-star hotel, but that was far from the truth.

Rooms: The rooms were just okay. There was only one charging point, and to use it, I had to unplug the TV. The door had just a single latch from the inside, which didn’t feel secure. The geyser was broken, and the lighting in the room was very dim – just one light. Also, the view from the room was nothing like the pictures shown online.

Food: We didn’t eat much there, but tried the pakoras – they were average. There’s no real restaurant, just a small setup with a few chairs and a table where they serve food.

Location: Don’t expect a great view. It’s not what you usually imagine when thinking of Mussoorie. The view was just okay – something you’d get in any basic mountain area like Shimla. A positive thing is - Mall road is 15 min walking from the hotel so if you are checking in late you can cover the mall road late night.

Staff: The staff were polite but didn’t go out of their way to help. They always seemed to have a reason ready for anything that wasn’t working or available.

Guys, there was this man named Keshav. He helped us with the prices, the rooms, and the check-in process. The room is clean and tidy, perfect for couples, it has a big enough bathroom and the bathroom has a mirror too! The view from the window is so peaceful, giving you the cozy vibes. Next comes the food service, prices are reasonable, the quantity is perfect and the taste? Just woah, even the chai here screamed TASTY.
