Easily one of the best resorts we've ever been to. We went there for our Anniversary, and had booked the Lakeview cottage with the Jacuzzi. They had set the room up with flowers on the bed, lit up candles, an anniversary cake and a generous sprinkle of rose petals on the filled up Jacuzzi! There is a touch of luxury in everything from the wooden flooring to the fittings used. The cottage also has a wide balcony with a view of the lake. Their restaurant 'Waves' is located right across the road, by the seashore. They serve lipsmacking food that's priced fairly. Everything we had ordered in Kerala cuisine- Nadan Chicken curry, Squid pepper fry, Fish Pollichathu and the Beef coconut fry-tasted divine. There's an open air seating area as well where you can have all of this in the seabreeze. On our request, they had also arranged for a candlelit dinner on the lakeside gazebo near the cottages, which by the way is another highlight of the resort. The staff deserves a special mention for being super-courteous and for not overdoing courtesy by being intrusive. Even during the dinner, they came in at the right moments when they were required. They were up for any help that was needed, and had even packed sandwiches for us when we had to leave early in the morning to catch our flight. The only low point was when we had some construction staff walking around our cottage in the morning. Would have been better if they were strictly instructed not to do the work when the cottage is occupied. This was only for a short period and it's understandable as some parts of the resort is still under construction. The decoration for the anniversary was also done for an extra cost. Would have been a delight if they could do a minimal decorative work that's complimentary. However, this doesn't take away anything at all from the wonderful experience that Maliekal Heritance was. Thank you for hosting us. We'll surely recommend this to our folks!

Facility is really good, and well maintained. But felt like the timings were little tight. kayaking, boating, pool, and breakfast all start at 8:30 only and ends at 10:30 and the day I was staying they changed it to 9/9:30 and I got to know about it from restaurant only and at the reception they had informed different time. Had two instances where the staff said that Beach entry is for room guest only or when I enquired about breakfast another person said the same. Then again all other guests were foreigners and they didn't think we were room guest. My 2yr daughter had fun in kids park, and swimming pool. We also enjoyed Jakuzzi. By the time I reached the tea time was over which was ok as we and gone to their beach restaurant for evening snacks and drinks but had to fight a lot to get the pedal boat unlocked at 6pm range. My kid was crying to get on the boat and I literally had to beg them to unlock it once so that she could just enter once. Before that time it is really sunny and in evening or early morning they does not allow to use kayak or boat. Pedal boat is fine as local Fishermen cast their nets. But when I was staying in another facility they would allow use of Kavya to travel as it does disturb the nets. When we reached the facility and just before leaving the water flow in pipes were very slow. At first I though thats the seed they have. Later at night only I got to know that wasn't the case. The time I went, march rooms were really hot. Even after hours of blowing the AC in full speed the room were still hot but it got better at night but bathrooms were still little warm and humid. Even with all the bad experiences at restaurant the facility and restaurants which is opposite to the road were really good. Evening sunset and wind was really nice. Quantity and quality of the food was also ok. The staff who served us was also really polite.

Its a small property and not sure why its so expensive without having much activities. We have booked 3 rooms and were not able to get atleast 1 single room by 2-2:30PM. The food is average here, I would suggest to have food from nearby small shops who serves great seafoods. They dont allow outside food, but if the taste isnt great means you have to go for other options. The worst thing which I felt being working in Hospitality industry as a GM is, I have never seen charging 15%+ for room service which they have told at the time of checkin and Reception team members doesnt have any idea how much the restaurants they charge for it. The property they have kept clean. I would suggest please do educate your staff on the details about the property and other charges or atleast at the time of booking the property. We thought they will extend the checkout for all 3 rooms atleast for some time extra but unfortunately they started calling us asking to checkout 1 room by 11 which we felt bad as it was kind of friends and family trip, so we couldnt move in to another room, then they came to room for making us vacate. In Hospitality industry customer is the king. So you have to treat them well to get them back again, so then the property can grow according to that. As an advise I would suggest to have better knowledgable staff for Restaurant and Reception.

Quite a nice resort. I actually didn't expect it to be so.

Went with a friend for an impromptu visit. Located just alongside the coast the resort cottages are made of wood and overall seems to be tastefully done without being ostentatious.

The property actually also overlooks a creek. Fishing rods and bait was available so we also tried our hand at that. While I wasn't lucky(only one real proper opportunity but the fish escaped) my friend managed to catch 3, albeit all tiny. We did contemplate having them for dinner but in the end we returned them back to the waters, all intact.

A canoe and a paddleboat was available and is perfectly safe since the waterbody is the creek and there are no undercurrents so to speak. It felt great to actually use the boats since the open sea was just 50-100 metres away.

They have a tastefully done garden and an outdoor playcourt(mini basketball facilities seemed to be immediately available but I guess the court could be used for other games as well). They seemed to have some indoor game facilities as well. Didn't check that out since we didn't have time.

An outdoor swimming pool (which I didn't use for the same reason: no time) was also available. I think though the size is more for children or adolescents. Incidentally one of the cottages has an indoor pool...while we didn't book that room it sure would have been a great experience (skinny dipping if adults maybe..or just a great splash and soak opportunity if younger) with the added luxury of privacy.

I also liked that they have bicycles in the facility...and books as well. Small collection but I guess a library is always a work-in-progress.

The restaurant -Waves I think it's called - is not attached to the property. It is across the road and perfectly located right on the beach. The outdoor sitting area has this constant breeze and would be my preferred choice anyday versus the indoor option. I think they have named it aptly.. You can distinctly hear the waves crashing against the sand and I personally liked the cool breeze that accompanied it. The food was excellent and service was unobtrusive yet quick. We only had dinner and then the free breakfast the next day. My friend caught a few dolphins prancing about in the sea on the day we were checking out. I'm not sure how common that sighting is. My guess is we were just lucky and I think the time we went was important (8:30 am or 9:00 am I think).

Now 2 important improvement areas (and I had to think hard for it):

The bathroom could have been slightly bigger. It's done up well but i personally would have liked it a few feet wider all around. I'm not sure how it was for the other cottages. The cottages are all different and we only had this option available while booking. My friend had no issues with it though. -Would have also been nice to have more attentive security guards at the gates. There was probably some lack of communication between the front desk and the security and they weren't aware about us coming and it required some talking and verification. Small issue that is undoubtedly quite easy to ...

I would say it has good ambience and and the restaurant is closer to cherai beach. And resort is right opposite to the beach road near to a river. We have booked three rooms with one bed extra(we paid for it) for total of 9 people since it was a busy day and only 3 rooms were available. I came there in a motor cycle and the security guard didn't let me in saying parking is not available (event though the parking was available ) even though I told him that we have booked rooms here for a day. So I parked my bike at the restaurant's parking area. And had lunch even though we have given our food choices one day prior most of them were not available. And ordered random dishes for lunch. And starters was tasty and good but the meal was not that good, for foodies like me a bad food is enough for a bad day even though we are paying premium price for it. After the luch we spend a lot of time in the activities area which is directly above the restaurant. There were few games and a viewing area.

By 3 O'clock we went for chek In, And staffs attitude was just like the security. I cannot explain how bad was experience.they gave us a guidelines sheet. It says we have to take care of our child since each room has a small pool in it( they were actually referring about Jacuzzi's ) and all rooms didn't have Jacuzzi or showering cabinet. Also most rooms were equipped with alexa but none them were in working condition. Also out jacuzzi were also not working. And we have contacted the reception one staff came and we showed him that our bathroom door wasn't working it was a manufacturing issue. And they accused us for I asked them to call technician. He checked and told us that it was an issue with the stabilizer it just needed some time to charge since the jacuzzi needs a lot of power. But they couldn't fix the issue with door.

Swimming pool was nice but they told us to not use, since most people use cotton swim suits. Its understandable because most places also won't let anyone to use swimming pool wearing cotton swim suits. So I brought new swim suits even though I already have a good swimming suit.

Restaurant will close after 10 so we ordered food to our room. Unlike the lunch the dinner was really good and we enjoyed it.

In morning, the breakfast is complementary and its a buffet I didn't know whether they were facing any issues at that day everything other than side dishes( such as vellayappam) they don't refill we have to wait for a long time just to get one. Considering the total number of room and limited time(8 am -10 am). We had to spent a lot of time there just to have breakfast.

In simple words, If you don't care about the staff and what they say it's a good place for you. And the rooms are good only for two people. If you want to book for more that that consider booking multiple rooms(they might not be closer to each other) or book any other resort. In my experience I am extremely unsatisfied with their service and way of...

This has been my second trip to this property along with my family. And I should say, there has been a massive difference between the first time and this time. They have drastically improved as far as the property and the aesthetics are concerned. And I was glad, it had been a welcome change!

The first welcome at the reception was just okay, not everyone looks happy there! I wish they were friendlier and would make us guests feel more welcome to their property. Very negligible to no smiles, I wonder if the staff working there are even happy being there?

I would never recommend the Villa room, unless you have at least two families to occupy it. Else, you just get one part of the villa, and which makes no sense and is absolutely a waste of money. The wooden cottages though looking tinier, but a lot more useful, were a better deal, since it was also facing the riverside and the night light was beautifully reflecting on that side of the property.

I would say that the location isn’t the best one. Like some resorts that give security to their guests, inspite of being a public beach, this one surely could try and work on that. Besides, the resort is on one side of the road and the beach is on the other. So there isn’t really a connect. And surely no safety when we are with our families and young children.

My 4 star rating is undoubtedly for the food of their restaurant named WAVES, again on the other side of the road. It’s a bit of inconvenience, to be honest. But the food is great! Superb and fresh preparations. Not everything on the menu was available, because again, this place is short staffed. The chef was unavailable like what we were told. That was a thorough disappointment, but nevertheless, the quality of the food, made it worthwhile!

There was a little disappointing episode with one of the staff there, but I would surely place on record the very kind and warm service of two impeccable gentlemen, VINEETH and SIBY who were very patient and pleasant while taking care of not just us, but other guests there too! For this, we are extremely grateful!

A few changes here and there could help bring about a more memorable experience for guests looking forward to visit Cherai.

Good...
