I had to stay in this hotel with my wife for a night(17th March 2017 to 18th March 2017)on my return trip from Bhutan. The room was pre-booked and supposed to be their best . While checking in the manager at the reception asked if we were married and do I have my marriage certificate. I tried explaining him that we don't carry our marriage certificate while travelling but we do carry our passports with the spouse details. He was not at all ready to accept the passport as he did not know the meaning of "spouse". After arguing for quite some time he finally agreed. ||The condition of the room was bad with stains on the walls and toilet. The blankets were stinking and the staff didn't know any language except Bengali.||The funny part was when we tried ordering our dinner at 7 PM, we got the reply that it was too early to order dinner and we have to wait till 7:45 PM.||The next morning when we were waiting for the breakfast buffet the service boy came with a plate with some parathas and curd in it and said that's the breakfast, and if we need more food we have to wait. ||Moreover, while trying to clear my bill, the manager was not aware that my room rent was already paid long back and it again took me more than half an hour to sort it out.||Finally, after a horrible one night stay finally we are out...
Read moreI booked this hotel through an online travel agent without much knowledge about the place. The series of awful experiences began a few days before I checked-in. I called the hotel two days before my check-in but they denied any booking and threatened me that I perhaps won't be allowed to even check-in, as they have issues with online travel agents. Unfortunately I had already paid fully to the travel agent. I informed the travel agent and on the day of my arrival they allowed me to check-in without any hassle. The room was not clean. The room did not have even a glass to drink water. The bathroom did not have a towel. In-fact there was no service at all. They have a rooftop bar cum restaurant, which is always crowded with local people. The service is terrible. I had to scream at a staff member as he denied a finger bowl after Indian food. The nightmare continued even after I left the hotel. I started getting repeated phone calls from the hotel with requests to ask my travel agent to pay their bills. I had to call the travel agent...

I'm disappointed to say that my recent stay at this hotel in Feb '25 was a letdown. I had previously stayed here in 2016 and had a wonderful experience - the rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-maintained.
However, my latest visit revealed a stark contrast. The hotel's maintenance and cleanliness have deteriorated significantly. The rooms, although spacious, lacked the sparkle they once had.
On a positive note, the hotel staff were exceptional - friendly, cooperative, and helpful. The location is also a major plus, situated just opposite the iconic Coochbehar Palace Gate.
While this hotel still has potential, it urgently needs to address its maintenance and cleanliness issues to regain its former glory.
Recommendation: With some renovation and attention to detail, this hotel could once again become a top choice for travelers. Until then, it's an...
