One of the Best homestays that I have been to and I have been to a lot of them. It is indeed an old place but so lovingly maintained that it feels like home... The old-world charm is maintained through the slight creaking of the wood, fireplace, and a few items that are displayed tastefully. The warmth of the owners permeates the ambiance.
Ms. Rita is very prompt with answering any queries that might pop up in our minds. Since we were there with a senior citizen and a senior dog, she gave us the ground-floor rooms. The room heaters were provided. They also provide hot water bags if required.
Yes, the place is pet friendly but one should take one's bedsheets and linen so as not to soil the bedsheets there. Some people do not like or are allergic, so dog owners should be sensitive to it.
Ram, a young man, who is the caretaker is an asset. He will show and explain everything about what is provided and the gadgets. He is equally prompt in his service. Ram keeps everything neat. The toiletries provided are of good quality and we loved the tidy washrooms.
A mention for the meals that we got from the nearby places like Brick house and Hill Top. They were made according to our taste and were sumptuous.
We are sure to visit this place again, this time with a larger group and for a longer duration.
Thank you Rita Ma'am and Ram for making our stay so...
Read moreIt was an incredible experience to stay at a place like Niharika, where foreign delegates and political asylum seekers lived over a century ago. The property has been meticulously restored to blend the comforts of modern living with the charm of its historic architecture and craftsmanship.
The vast surrounding areas and beautiful landscape make it a perfect spot for outdoor dining, while the kids had plenty of space to play. Our holiday was made even more special as three generations of our family came together to create cherished memories.
Rita, the owner, is exceptionally kind and thoughtful. She sent us a delicious home-baked cake and some mouthwatering home-cooked dahi-vada, adding a personal touch to our stay. Despite living some distance away, she made it a point to visit us, which we truly appreciated.
What made our time at Niharika even more enjoyable was the flexibility to request tea, snacks, lunch, or dinner at any time as per our preferences. It was such a delight to have a real family gathering in a setting so far from home yet so warm and welcoming. A truly...
Read moreWe stayed at Niharika, The Old Place for just two nights in mid November but could have stayed six months it is so wonderful. When the taxi drove us up the drive to the beautiful villa constructed in about 1926 we couldn’t believe what we had booked. It’s an absolutely fantastic house of immense character and charm. The architect who designed the house really knew how to create a place for stylish living in a different age. From the high ceilings to the smooth concrete floors and the many French doors leading to interesting Little balconies and terraces. The house is located above the main town and the terrace overlooks spectacular scenery of the Rolling Hills of the low Himalayas. I’ve stayed at many Airbnb places, but this comes as close to Perfect a place as ever I stayed in.
A quick mention also for Rita a charming hostess in every way and the caretaker Praveen who is on call at all times had supplied with breakfasts, evening meals and coffees and made us feel...
