Underwhelmed. The options were limited. We were four and ordered Red rice, White Rice, Chicken Thukpa Ngongow, Kewa Datsi, Shamu Datsi, Phaksa Paa, Shakam Paa & Jatsha Paa. The particular waiter serving us although was polite and well-mannered but lacked knowledge of the dishes. And before anyone bombards with comments like "the description were given in parentheses", No, dried beef doesn't tell if its a gravy dish or a dry dish. I myself have eaten Phaksapaa (or phagsapa as some call it) from numerous places ranging from almost dry to having little but thick gravy. The other attendants were almost too concerned with our son. The place is "child friendly" in the sense children are expected to behave like grown adults. And while the owner(s) definitely reserves right for admission, people with children (who behave like children) should have every right to know that they'll have to get ready for stares and mild rebukes. Taste of food was so-so. I do not find Bhutanese cuisine particularly impressive but that's my personal choice. You'll get things as they taste. However, the other places where I have tried the food was a bit on the spicier side. Here although you are requested to specify your heat tolerance level (which usually denotes that the restaurant is serious about heat), I found their moderately spiced variety as extremely mild. Sure its restaurant specific but for an uninitiated, there's no way to know what you'll be getting. And please don't add the chilli paste served, it'll cause gastric irritation. The buffet option wasn't available as per our waiter. I am unimpressed by the restaurant. If you haven't tasted Bhutanese cuisine and want to have a bite, go ahead but it's not worthy of a repeat visit imho. The decoration is good, the view from the restaurant is splendid. But the food and especially the staffs (and hence management) are...

To my surprise, it was empty during lunch time. It's on the first floor, with a nice view of the valley. The seating is neat with decor inspired by Bhutanese culture.

You only get Bhutanese food here so don't expect any Indian food. I wanted to try a lot of things, but they said they serve those only on weekends. The butter tea and the pork soup were very nice. But the main course of chicken Datshi was a downer, it was too sour and the flavor of the chillies was underwhelming. The egg Datshi was a little dry.

What irked me was the coldness and indifference of the staff and the owner. A smile is not too much to ask for.

Location: About 10mins walk from the main market, on the road towards Siliguri.

Ambience: Simply decorated, large tables and floor tables, large windows overlooking the mountains.

Service: Was quite prompt. However, the lady taking orders was not good in English so difficult to understand the dishes. Filtered drinking water available.

Ordered: Itshum (Bhutanese Red Rice): Rs 100. Slightly sticky rice, small grains, good to taste. Langsha Juma (Beef Sausages): Rs 250. Sausages cut into small pieces and sautéed with onions tomatoes, mildly spicy, excellent taste. Kewa Datshi (Potato with Cheese): Rs 120. Fabulous taste, slices of boiled potatoes simmered in a cheesy broth.

Overall, highly...

We went on Feb last year. We took a walk from our hotel in evening time. They close d place by 8pm. Inner atmosphere was ok. But it looked like only we 2 with a kid were there. 2 women inside got surprised seeing us.

Food feedback:

We had Thukpa in the restaurant and packed Rice with a fish item and a pork item to eat in hotel. After making us wait for ages we got Thukpa, which was good. So we thought rest of d foods will be to. But when we opened our pack at night, we had horrible experience. Each of the bhutanese items cooked so bad. Lots of oil and spice. Seems the peices were long frozen ( definitely expired) and not at all thawed. Directlt put to cook.... horrible smell and taste. Each peices were so hard, tasteless, felt unhygienic. We threw away our food after taking few bites. Our excitement to have Bhutanese food was completely

Do not go for take away food in this restaurant. Probably they give leftover foid from buffet. Go for immediate cooked food. Probably they will cook better. Will ask all dont fall prey to marketing and biased feedback of thise who dont know about Bhutanese foods. Be careful . Definitely we did not...
