Grand Mercure Batam Centre — Hotel in Batam City

Hotel is located near Batam Centre International Ferry Terminal. Gojek trip from Mega Mall Batam Centre (opposite ferry terminal) to the hotel is about 2km and cost Rp18500 ($1.45) before discount. Hotel is newly built thus the place is well maintained as expected. Check in supposed to be after 2pm. Went there at 1pm but room wasn’t ready. They have a musollah and kids playroom which one can use while waiting for the room to be ready. We booked 3 rooms and had made request for rooms to be close to each other during the booking. Unfortunately, the hotel is not able to arrange the rooms accordingly since it is the peak period and the hotel is fully occupied. All 3 rooms are located at 3 different levels (10, 12 & 17). Since the floor require card access, it is almost impossible to go to each other’s room without getting someone from the room to escort. Do take this into consideration if you intend to book multiple rooms.Additionally, we manage to get only 1 room during the official check in time i.e. 2pm. Our 3rd room was only ready at close to 5pm. The hotel is able to safekeep your luggage if you prefer to continue with your day instead of waiting for your rooms to be ready.The rooms are spacious and you can watch a variety of channels on the TV. Some drilling works can be heard at night but fortunately it was quick. It lasted less than a minute. After all, this is a new hotel so some works can be expected.Breakfast is beyond expectation. First time seeing instant noodle counter and live grill station for breakfast. Food is awesome especially the roasted duck and cakes. They have hot chocolate which is an added bonus. They also have different soups for your noodles. Place is big but can get busy during peak period. On Sunday morning at 0830am, queue started to build up as people are waiting for seats to be available. Luckily we had went in earlier. The staffs are proactive in finding available seats for them.Since the breakfast is good, some people stayed longer to try out the different selections. You will need to go earlier or slightly later to avoid the crowd. Monday morning breakfast was relatively empty so no issues with the timing.Swimming pool size is decent and big enough for kids to enjoy. Gym seems to be well equipped. Did not try out the spa so cannot comment on it.Nearest shopping mall is One Batam Mall. You can walk on the cycling track from the mall to the hotel. It is a straight road. The only hurdle will be to cross the road as the hotel is on the opposite side of the road. The mall is fairly new so some parts of it is still under renovation.If you want to go to other malls, can easily get a ride through Grab, Gojek or Bluebird. I find myself using Gojek more as the prices are relatively cheaper. It might not always be the case so do your own research. Prices should be around $2-$3 per trip.Overall, we had a pleasant stay...

Had a pleasant stay for 3 days 2 nights in this newly opened hotel. The location is near to Batam Centre & Ferry Terminal. The nearest mall is One Batam Mall which is also newly opened. As the road condition is not ideal & unsafe, hence it is better to take a car like Uber to go to any destination in Batam instead walking even it is nearby.||Upon arrival, the workers were still installing the "Grand" word light box outside the hotel. The hotel staff were friendly & helpful. We got a free upgrade to Executive Room as not sure my husband is a Silver Accor member. The room is quite spacious, clean & new. Surprise the closet is inside the bathroom. However there are rooms for improvement. ||When we entered our room, the TV remote controller was missing, the safe deposit box was locked & did not provide any general password to unlock & there were no hangers. We had to make multiple requests for the hangers before the housekeeping staff came. Such service should speed up. The hotel staff then told us the general password to unlock the safe deposit box was [111111]. They should unlock the safe deposit box so the next hotel guest would not ask again.||The bed is pretty firm & pillows are ok. We did have a good rest. Just that our room was facing a building under construction, so there were some construction noise in the early morning. The sound proof of the rooms are not that good. We also could hear other hotel guests or hotel staff talking quite loudly at the common corridor.||The aircon in the hotel room was very cold & we tried to adjust but it would not increase the temperature we had set. We also tried the heater mode but it was still cold. Sometimes we had to switch it off.||The breakfast was a disappontment as not much variety & the taste was below average. We could get more delicious & cheaper breakfast in the nearby mall. The waiters in the restaurant were also not attentive & did not clear the plates after we finished eating. So we had to stack up the plates or to call them to clear the plates for us.||The swimming pool, fitness centre & Spa are located at level 3. So we did have a good relaxation at the pool after we came back from the mall.||Overall, it is still a good stay & I will recommend...

Beyond the excellent facilities, the room itself exceeded our expectations. The luxurious furnishings created an ambiance of sophisticated comfort, perfectly complementing the overall relaxing atmosphere of our staycation.

The thoughtful touches, from the comfortable bedding to the well-appointed bathroom, contributed to an overall feeling of opulence and relaxation.
