Villa Penyu Gili Trawangan — Hotel in Gili Trawangan

This place is very special. We absolutely loved our 4 night stay and wish we could’ve stayed much much longer! We are very seasoned travellers in our mid 50’s and this place was just perfect for us. Small enough to get a very personal service and had a boutique quality feel to it.

Location - in a quieter part of the island right on the sea with its own beach area with sunbeds and tables. We deliberately chose to stay away from the busy party part of the island, although we did hire bikes and cycle along to it most evenings. We love the crazy side of this island, live music, busy bars etc but it was nice to get away from it too.

Snorkelling - It’s at Turtle Point and it’s no exaggeration that you are guaranteed to see beautiful Turtles everyday, just there, in the shallow water whilst snorkelling. This is my dream and I loved every minute. See photo! Also great fish, swim out to the close reef where it gets a bit deeper to see nice coral and colourful fish. I saw puffers, blue trevally, loads of butterfly and angel fish, bat fish, sergeant majors, parrot fish, titan trigger, surgeon fish, to name but a few.

Rooms - very very nice. Clean, well thought out and everything you need. Fridge, wardrobe, safe, good air con. Nice terrace with comfortable bench seating. Pool literally a few steps away. Comfortable big king sized bed. Plenty of power sockets. Good wifi. Tv with Netflix login etc.

Pool - fresh water pool nice and long to get good lengths in. Very clean. Beautiful plants, flowers and well thought out gardens. Not a massive outdoor space but lots of thought has gone into using every part of it and it’s so well maintained. 8 sunbeds for guests use.

Staff - every single member of staff was friendly and helpful. They went above and beyond for their guests and nothing was too much trouble. They even mended my flip flop when it broke. Laundry service if needed, which I used.

Beach - the beach area was nice, good clean sand. Water just perfect temperature. There are sunbeds for hotel guest use only and we never had a problem getting one.

Food and restaurant - fabulous food, good menu with lots of Korean dishes plus other things. Everything we tried was nice. Lots of non guests eat here for lunch and evening. Good cocktails and mocktails.

Stay here, you won’t regret...

Absolutely fortunate to discover this gem in Gili T. After getting the chance to meet Mr. Lee and having him show me around the villa, I immediately cancelled my other plans and decided to stay here.

The bedding in the bungalows is incredibly plush, and the spacious bathrooms are a standout. The highlight of this place is the swimming pool; out of the seven places I stayed during my 3-week trip in Bali, this pool had the cleanest water. Needless to say, it has the largest pool among villas.

Right in front, the beach is the hotspot for turtle sightings, and the fact that you can witness both sunrise and sunset from the same shoreline is truly breathtaking.

Mr.Lee and staff are exceptionally kind, arranging cidomo, providing medicine for a snorkeling injury, and giving tips about nearby restaurants.

Food served at the restaurant are outstanding, ranging from Western to Indonesian to Korean dishes. I truly enjoyed the Bibimbap here!

I stayed with my friends at Villa Penyu Gili Trawangan, for 3 nights, 1618 Aug 2023. We 6 persons came from Seoul Korea. Actually before coming here, as the main purpose of this journey we had performed the program of Trekking Summit Rinjani (3,726m), 3D2N guided by greenrinjani company, from Sembalun to Torean Village, 1416 August 2023. Villa Penyu is located in the north of Gili T and right in front of hotel, the beach is amazing because I could take wonderful photos of starring sky with sudden meteor shot. Both sunrise and sunset sights are possible at the same place, here. Daytime I could find turtles while snorkeling at near shore. The menu is also very delicious, both Indonesian and Korean.

There is, in addition, one further point to make. Southern Cross and the galaxy in the night sky can be seen inside the hotel after sunset. How amazing place is here! I'd like to call this hotel as 'Villa Penyu Stargazing'.
